they've been using helical wrapping since the 80's. this just cuts cost. increased wind load and ice prevent these in many states and utilities frown upon third parties wrapping their lines. trees, lightning etc etc... your fiber is the least of their priority.

no mfers that isn't what we are paying for...that shit goes down all the time every time there is strong wind. It should only be used as backup or until you can properly install it underground.

But you get spinning video from that optical cable as it's twisted. 😐

Meta licensed Hibot for product development in 2023, the project seems to have stalled.

um. don't metal wires stretch and shrink based on temp, how can a fibre wrapped long distances around them keep up. don't think the coil shape will be enough slack.

Looks much too tight for fiber.

Yeh no thanks. I much rather install ADSS.

Meine Staumauer ist offen.

A break is gonna require linemen and splicers. That machine is probably 80k and requires setup, specialized parts. This is some engineers solution to to sell an over priced product that has a ton of trade offs. Fiber on messenger is much more straight forward.

ヤバいと思うんですけどね。 電柱も電線も35年とか40年も経ったらヤバいと思うんです。 ガス管や水道管よりも紫外線に曝されてて劣化ヤバいと思うんですよね。 一生使えるモンぢゃありませんよ。

Linemen on suicide watch

This is actually a horrible idea. Just the magnetic field those towers have could slightly warp/change the fiber signal, even if its miniscule, over a range of miles the change can be big enough to cause signal interference

very bad technology since rotation damages fiber cable

twisting a optical cable, wonderful idea 🤣

Really cool! But in a wireless world, fiber isn't cutting edge tech anymore.

They used a smaller, similar setup for my street, ran in between poles and wound over a steel wire previously installed. All in all, 4 steps to install: wire, fiber, wrap, hardware

Mais quelle bonne idée de mettre des câble réseau sur des câbles aériens comme ça en plus d'être en panne de courant tu sera également en panne de réseau 😅 Sérieux pourquoi on enterre pas tous les câbles en dehors de la très haute tension 😅

@grok how to solve the heat problem

Awesome

yeah lets stick to ground installations

you totally copied that lego bridge vehichle dude didn't you?

This ain't it chief

You really chose "allows" like you're a retard eh?

Cute like a little insect or molecular motor

That's awesome

Isn't that just structural support site, not actually a service wire.

The Technology is a fact. It has eliminated jobs but has generated savings.

Interesting, I mean it's not like it'll cause interference as it's light waves.

those are just wrapping machines to hold different parallel cables in a bundle. it is not installing new fiber. its wrapping a string around existing one.

When it gets damaged how and who is going to splice it

Deploy the fishing reel

these are scarier than data centers. these could crawl into your bed and fill your ass with fiber.
