That's perfectly clear - a serving robot model designed for a specific task. Figure robots are multifunctional guiding robots intended for a wide range of tasks in industry and, in the future, in private households. These are two completely different classes.

One of them is a full humanoid robot and the other is two industrial robot arms… I wouldn’t say this is an apples-to-apples comparison.

Not even close to the same, you cannot compare humanoid robots to mounted ones like that.

General-purpose robots vs specific-purpose ones. Why do you need a body for that task?

Those two jackwads are stuck in one place. Figure 03 is far more versatile.

Application specific hardware for the win

We're still so far from even a basic UPS sorter.

Humanoid robots will mog everything There's 8 billion humans doing stuff today That means there's a market for 8 billion humanoids doing all sorts of things Specialized robots will go away even from some places where they are working today - we just won't need them. The only places where specialized bots will exist is where they are 10x or 100x as effective as a humanoid bot, but as humanoid bots get faster, it will be fewer and fewer places. For example these industrial assembly lines where items fly by at high speed - they will continue to exist But in the future fewer such lines will be needed as manufacturing goes more and more local - microfabs and humanoids, eventually androids and matter assemblers which create anything by assembling molecules directly.

Humanoids just look cool. Industrial robots are the real goats

couldn't this also be done with just a conveyor belt that flips the package? no need for robot arms or anything special, just a camera that scans barcodes, and if the barcode isn't visible, that section of the conveyor springs up and flips the package

Where figure bots, and other humanoid robots win is versatility. Run packages for 3 hours and walk to another station. Purpose built robots like these will always win at singular tasks but fail at the ability to switch tasks at a moments notice

Yea I don't get the hype over humanoid when something like this without the human body gimmick does the same

Now making beds and cleaning houses.

Well I guess the humanoid robot is supposed to have tools in his hand that are equivalent of the industrial robot-arm-machine. This is like making the 2-legged robot make drill a hole with his fingers and compare that to an automated drilling machine.

They are so aggressive. Seesh. Be gentle to my package!

First principles: Should this task be done by humanoid? Do we really need to pick them up? Why is there a corner? It's not sorting anything...

Actual industrial robots are way faster then these humanoids at most tasks and would be far more reliable since they don't have excess parts that are not needed.

Extremely specialized solutions will always be vastly more expensive than generalized solutions.

The figure bot can still do other thousands of task you dummy, it’s not locked to parcels only but this one is. That’s why you build humanoid form, so it can do any task you give it.

A rough day for robot legs, but I guess the factory never asked for the cosplay.

Why are those jobs needed at all? Just add a camera below the track and make that section transparent.

Figures.

less bulky, cheaper, and faster at work. this is why sorting facilities will look more like with robot arms than with humanoid robots. it was fun seeing those humanoid robots take shifts on that challenge few months back though.

Non-chinese robotics is a larp.

Yeah, this is why I don’t understand the humanoid obsession. They are too complicated when specialized robots work so much better.

attach these to the sides of my dryer

Damn! the market is so bad that even robots are losing their jobs now!

It's like watching 2 energetic dinosaurs sort my mail

I'm sure and even more specialized machine, not even necessarily a robot, can perform this much faster. But that's not the point - humanoid robots excel at tasks that don't remain perfectly structured for very long time

Yes, specialized robots will beat humanoids every time

Und was ist, wenn es mal auf der kurzen Seite ist, das Label?

Cut Bruce loose.

Tell me who would like to do such job? Imagine doing it day after day? Absolutely glad that robots can assist here.

You can see they're getting close to human level because they flip the packages nonchalantly like a human would.
