Sky dive. X-mas adrenalin rush. Got this off the bucket list. Had been wanting to sky dive in India for the longest time. Finally, got down to jumping off a Cessna 172 Skyhawk at 10,000 feet. Super day out with family and friends at Haryana’s Narnaul. This time was a tandem jump. Will come back for a solo jump in the New Year.

Here’s your space weather report for the week of Jan. 30 – Feb 5: - 72 M-class flares (!) - 6 X-class flares - 33 coronal mass ejections - 0 geomagnetic storms This video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows the week’s activity. SDO ended its Earth eclipse period this week just in time for an uninterrupted view of a barrage of solar flares! This week, one active region in particular — AR4366, which rotates onto the Earth-facing disk of the Sun at the beginning of this video — unleashed a whopping six X-class flares this week, and all but three of this week’s 72 M-class flares. This one is worth a watch!🤩

There has been a lot of interest in the first BIP-110 signaling block produced by Barefoot Mining earlier today. Some of you might enjoy knowing that it was mined at one of our "wild horse" sites. It's an off-grid site powered directly from a stranded natural gas well. I certainly have nothing against grid-based mining but I find it somewhat poetic that this block was produced in the wild. To me this type of site fully embodies the spirit of Bitcoin. Check out this drone video of the site - ironically it being shot right at the time the block was produced.

Told ya so… The US installed more solar in Q1 2024 than it did in all of 2018 I remember people telling me in 2018/2019 that I was ignorant for predicting that Solar Energy will massively expand and take a sizable chunk of the new energy market. In the first quarter of 2024, the US saw a record-breaking addition of 11.8 gigawatts (GW) of new solar panel manufacturing capacity. This represented 75% of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the US grid during that time. Total US solar panel manufacturing capacity jumped from 15.6 GW in the last quarter of 2023 to 26.6 GW in the first quarter of 2024. Oh, and the grid didn’t fail like many of you claimed it would. The grid has evolved along with solar capacity for the most part. And that's just the US. China is solar-bullish as well, as seen below. The next 5-10 years will see this space grow even faster, whether you want to admit it or not.
