What a beautiful, laid-back year. I worked and rested in equal measure, I laughed hard and loved hard. And I travelled! I ate croissants in Paris, ate too much cheese in Amsterdam, had amazing fish in Mozambique, swam at the edge of the Victoria Falls, had ice cream in Zambia, lunch in Botswana, coffee in Kenya and bitterballen in Den Haag. I fell in love with windmills and canals, trains and bicycles, and enjoyed European winter. Netherlands was a second home 😍 And I finally explored Cape Town like a tourist and went home every chance I got. And I went to the gym, hiked Lion’s Head religiously and went to church. And my career catapulted. I wouldn’t even know where to begin expressing my gratitude because it wasn’t just hard work, it was my seniors at work vouching for me, motivating for me and dropping my name in high places. It was my postgraduate students working hard and cooperating. It was my supervisor saying: “I feel like I photocopied myself in you.” And her pushing me in her footsteps -Guiding me on Funding, Ratings, Publications, Patents, Roping me into high-value projects and mentoring me like a mother. I got ALL the fundings I applied for. Like all of them said YES. I’m still speechless. I got NRF rated (Super huge for my career). I was granted a patent for the nanocomposite I produced during my PhD by South Africa, UK and USA, and the university poured funds into me moving to commercialisation (This happened after I wrote an email to the VC one 3 am. I woke up regretting how ‘harsh’ I had sounded and wanted to walk up to his office and ask him to delete the email before reading it - Long story 💀 But turns out I had just been assertive and not rude, so yay! “Sign here, here and here.”) In all the cities I went to this year, I wrote the way I think - endlessly, deeply and utterly silly sometimes. I wrote my heart out and fought hard against impostor syndrome. I finally published my 6th novel, made progress on The y in your man is silent 3, finished my other novel (Lelani), finished my non-fiction book (about my childhood) and wrote my novel (The Praying Mantis) on my Facebook page. And I got the Outstanding Author award, making me a Multi-award winner… It meant the world! I also finally stopped focusing on the next goal and slowed down. I savoured every moment as it happened and was present in real life. I looked out of airplane windows, went to spas regularly and drank a lot of tea. I also stopped trying to lose weight and ate my heart out. This year, I gave myself the love and kindness I give other people, and I was very gentle with myself. Through it all, God carried me and loved me as if I was His only creation. And I made many connections on and offline. And as always, I enjoyed Twitter a LOT. All that made the year so so beautiful 😍 Also refurnished my house and renovated just nje for no reason at all 🤭 Oh, and I LOVED and allowed myself to be LOVED 😍 And I took many pictures of innuendos 🤭🤣 Chilling and working just enough has been fun, but resting is over. Next year, we go hard!💪 The best is yet to come 🤞✨

“My name is Gammee Lolo Waaqayyo. According to the Gregorian calendar, I was born in 2007. I am an Ethiopian national, born in the Oromia region, West Arsi zone, Gadab Hasasa district, in a place called Woqeenxara. When I was 10 years old, both my mother and father passed away. Because of this, the community in my area gathered a small amount of money and bought me a motorcycle. I started working with it by myself. Since I worked between the town and the rural areas, government forces threatened me, saying I was transporting goods to the Shanee armed group in the forests. Out of fear, I fled the country when I was 15 years old and went to Sudan. I stayed in Sudan for about one year. There, I met a friend, and through him, we contacted a smuggler and came to Libya. After we entered Libya, we were placed in a warehouse. Once inside, they demanded money beyond my capacity. Because I had neither my father nor my mother, and my siblings were themselves struggling, I had no way to pay the ransom. Because of this, they subjected me to severe torture. After enduring this for a while, I fell sick and spent about one month inside. Eventually, they released me, and while traveling with my friends towards Tripoli, I was arrested by the police and taken to a detention center called Tajoura. I stayed in the detention center for two months, where I suffered greatly. After that, they released me. One Ethiopian man saw me where I was abandoned and took me to the UNHCR office. But when he brought me there, UNHCR refused to accept me. The young man also abandoned me right outside the UNHCR gate and left me there. I slept in front of the UNHCR gate for four days. After that, another young Ethiopian came to me and asked what had happened. He recorded a video of me and posted it on social media. Afterwards, some young people who knew me by face saw the video and came and took me with them. Even now, I am still in a very difficult situation. I am very sick. I am currently 18 years and 4 months old.”

Novak Djokovic talks about NATO bombing his childhood home in 1999: "We were just about to fall asleep again, and then a huge explosion happened. My mom stood up very quickly and hit her head on the heater, and fell unconscious. So, it was us crying because of the bombs, and it was us crying because mom was not reacting, and my dad was there, and you just don't know what is happening, you know? Luckily my dad managed to help my mom get back to herself, and we collected our stuff quickly, took the necessities, and went out. There were no street lights, everything was shut off, and it was so loud we could hear each other even if you screamed. My dad was carrying my brothers, and my mom was carrying stuff, and then I slipped and fell, and I looked up and see this stealth plane flying and dropping things, and the ground was shaking. Of course, that is one of the most traumatic experiences that I had in my childhood that still stays with me to this day... How is it possible that big countries come together and bomb such small countries, helpless people on the street, and just destroy everything? I could not understand that. There is no justification for war. There is no justification for killing somebody for taking away their home. This is the ultimate cruelty. And that has made me and everybody in Serbia very angry, and the scars of these emotions of this anger still are today present in everybody. But I worked on myself and on those emotions to forgive because you need to forgive. Finally, how can you be fueled more by anything than love? And love is forgiveness. And that's my philosophy on life." Full interview w/ Graham Bensinger and Novak Djokovic:

One of the wildest things happened to me today on FSD v14.2.2.5 - and I recorded the whole thing. On the way to the Oakland Zoo (47 minutes, 41 miles), I told my significant other I wasn’t going to disengage when we got there. I wanted to see how it would handle the ticket booth. Of course, I said I’d take over if anything unsafe happened, which, by the way, it didn’t - I never needed to disengage the entire ride. This is what happened. We pulled up to the entrance. The car stopped for the ticket attendant. I rolled down the window, told him we had tickets, and he said, “Take a left.” But FSD kept going straight. It probably kept going straight even though the man told me to go left bc it was locked onto a different location in the zoo in the navigation, which was straight ahead. So it continued forward, then exited, and rerouted itself back to the zoo. However, this time, I turned off the destination in the navigation. I turned on Grok and told it we needed to take a left this time. I pulled up to the attendant again, told him I went straight the first time bc I was running FSD, and after that brief conversation… the car took the left, entered the correct area, and then found parking. I was shocked, despite my significant other being frustrated. Bc not only did I never disengage the entire 47 minute ride, but Tesla FSD adapted to this edge case scenario. And this was when I realized I’m witnessing the early signs of sentient behavior in Tesla AI…

I’ve finally applied #ViduQ3 to a narrative project for SquadBlast . It handles action sequences and explosions with a level of consistency I hadn’t seen before. I achieved camera movements I’ve had in mind for a long time that other models simply wouldn't allow me to implement. The Start-end frame option generates high-quality animations with great control, provided you choose the points wisely and give the model enough time to generate the full movement fluidly. Grok surprised me with its iteration speed. I use it to bring dynamism to establishing shots and dialogue scenes that require quick corrections. If the scene needs movement, it’s my first choice. For more paced scenes or dialogues in wide shots, I prefer Sora 2. It is better suited for maintaining character style in distant shots, where Grok tends to struggle. The music was created in Suno (Industrial Tech-Step). I was looking for a sense of movement through minor-key synth arpeggios and extreme reverb. The "Studio" feature allowed me to precisely control the intro length and the exact point where the kick hits. Finally, a huge thanks to Framer 🇱🇹 for the amazing work on Cartoon Hero and for helping me connect with the professional world, and to OscarAI for his SREFs. I didn't have much time to develop the art style from scratch, so I used one of the SREF he shares. It fit perfectly with the bluish palette and the Otomo-inspired retro sci-fi style I was aiming for. It easily saved me a full day of work.
