It’s called, there is no light to refract off the front of the moon when the sun is behind it. It’s really not that complicated…

The moon passes in front of the sun! The only side that would be visible is the side that faces the sun! The moon gets it light from the sun. We can only see the moon here on Earth when the moons face is receiving light from the sun and reflecting it back to earth. Go to school

What if it’s like an eye that just turned around and that’s why it looks black but it’s not the moon

You guys know the blue sky is our atmosphere interacting with the light from the sun, and that the moon is outside the atmosphere right? This happens almost every day, there are periods where the moon isn't visible because of where it is in the sky. Good grief.

Just do some critical thinking and maybe you’ll figure out why you can’t see the moon until it starts passing in front of the Sun
