Kash Patel did say there are things they can not and will not tell us yet. Here are the Ballistics at 500 yards: The Sufficient energy with a 180-grain bullet, a .30-06 can retain over 1,500 foot-pounds of energy at 500 yards. This is well above the recommended minimum for elk and represents a significant amount of force. The effective on bone is significant when a high-velocity bullet strikes dense bone, it transfers a large amount of energy, which can cause significant fragmentation of both the bone and the bullet. The bone itself can create secondary, damaging projectiles. Large mammals, elk have denser and thicker bones than humans to support their significantly greater body weight. This increased density and robustness means elk internal bone is generally stronger than human bone. While factors like shot placement and bullet construction are critical, the .30-06 is a proven and capable round for hunting large game like elk at that distance.
