I switched to Russian bees, they are more cold hardy and suppose to be more aggressive, never once got stung by them. The italian bees, thought they were in the mob, got me all the time.

Note to self, no Italian bees.

I feel his pain. I keep bees, and they can be sneaky little bastards.

They are either Buckfast or mixed with Italian bees... on another note, use duct tape and wellies to close any gaps near the feet. Bees should not be able to get in and dealing with them should be a positive experience (I'm trying to use the word positive in every tweet) 😅

Jeremy - don’t forget that once you are stung you are “marked for death”. Their pheromone signals are impressive. An entire drone death army is coming for piece of you. My wife and I used to handle our hive in shorts and T-shirts without a problem. This ended for me when a drone got between my fingers and I accidentally crushed it, leading to a nasty sting. I shook it off and continued by work, rewarded with another 5 stings on my hand. The entire event ended with me running back to the house with a drone army in follow. It was cartoonish - and included curses that the world has probably never heard. Wife enjoyed watching and laughing, which is why I know she is evil. :)
