.Firefly Aerospace is preparing to launch a lunar lander to the far side of the Moon, and there is a significant monetization opportunity there, says CEO Jason Kim. “We’ll be able to sell that data commercially just like we did on Blue Ghost Mission one over five years, and it’s gonna help NASA scientists understand the physical futures of the moon. Commercial companies can buy the data so that they can survey where the best place is to mine for minerals.” Kim also points to rising demand for future moon bases, where the same data becomes critical for deciding where to build and how to operate.

🇺🇸Artemis II launched yesterday, sending four astronauts on the first crewed mission to the Moon in more than 50 years. The crew has already spent a full day in space and completed early milestones, including manually piloting the Orion spacecraft. Today they will perform the critical trans-lunar injection burn that will send them on their path toward the Moon. Our #GhostRiders completed another lunar orbit maneuver with a 3 minute, 18 second burn early this morning. This maneuver moved the lander from a high elliptical orbit to a much lower elliptical orbit around the Moon. Shortly after the burn, Blue Ghost captured incredible footage of the Moon's far side, about 120 km above the surface. In this orbit, the team will experience planned rolling comms blackouts as Blue Ghost goes around the far side of the Moon. When on the near side, the team will continue to downlink data and finalize the plan for our next maneuver that will get Blue Ghost even closer to the lunar surface and keep us right on track for landing on March 2. #BGM1
