NEW DOCUMENTARY: "The Censorship Files" How much would you pay to protect your freedom? by Leighton 明 Woodhouse & Michael Shellenberger One year ago, we and other journalists gained access to the Twitter Files. What we discovered shocked us. Not only were highly partisan and ideological individuals within Twitter censoring people for holding views with which they disagreed, they were often doing so on behalf of US government officials and contractors with the FBI, CIA, and Department of Homeland Security. And so, one year later, we are happy to announce a new, full-length documentary film, “The Censorship Files.” You can see the trailer above. The film, made by Leighton Woodhouse and Jonah Markowitz, will bring you inside the Twitter Files and the race to the Supreme Court, which will hear the Missouri v. Biden censorship case early next year. Today we must ask you a personal question: what price would you put on your freedom? Many of us tell ourselves that freedom is priceless: we would sacrifice everything, die even, to protect our freedoms and keep America a free nation. Even if we weren’t willing to die or go to prison for our nation, we would make a significant financial investment to protect it. We are asking you to make a far more modest payment: less than $9/month, or about half the cost of a Netflix subscription. A subscription to Public is an investment in our investigative reporting, our free speech campaigning, and the final production and distribution of “The Censorship Files,” a film that will change how Americans think about free speech. We believe $9/month is a tiny investment to pay to ensure that, in the future, you can read what you want to read, watch the programs you want to watch, and voice your opinions. “The Censorship Files” will be a landmark film in educating younger Americans, who are more censorial than their elders, about America’s remarkable history of strong free speech protections. They will learn about the Civil Rights movement, the right of the New York Times to publish “the Pentagon Papers,” and the right even of pro-Nazi and pro-terrorism activists to march freely through America’s streets. “The Censorship Files” will reveal the origins and scope of the Censorship Industrial Complex, its leaders and architects, and its victims of censorship, from moms sharing stories about the Covid vaccine’s side effects on their children to two of the world’s foremost experts on the Covid response, Harvard’s Martin Kulldorff and Stanford’s Jay Bhattacharya. Finally, we will use “The Censorship Files” to build a new free speech movement in America, city by city, campus by campus, from the grassroots up. Because if we can’t persuade America’s youth to support free speech, then the First Amendment is just some words on a piece of paper. We can’t save the First Amendment without you. We can’t even finish “The Censorship Files” without you. This is not complicated. We need more paid subscribers. We need more than 10% of our subscribers to contribute thirty cents daily. If we could get 30% of our free subscribers to support our movement, I believe that we would have a fighting chance to save our first freedom and the other pillars of democratic civilization along with it. One year ago, we didn’t even know we lived in a heavily censored society. Today, we have ripped back the veil of the Censorship Industrial Complex and are on the cusp of defunding and dismantling it. Such a process will take years but won’t take a decade. It may even happen much more quickly than that, depending on the actions of the Supreme Court and Congress. What’s certain is that we can’t do it without our paid subscribers — and we don’t want to do it without our unpaid ones. Most social media tools suck. (I've tried them all over 7 years of doing this). They claim to help you go viral. They claim that you'll grow fast on social media. They claim that they'll make it easy on you, so you can just grow your following without having any form of skill or understanding. And now they're trying to go fully agentic, which only works if you know what you're doing (we'll talk about that later, we built the MCP for social media). Plus, when everyone has an advantage, it is no longer an advantage. I promise you, I love AI, but having it write everything for you, especially as a beginner, is a death sentence. You may get lucky and have one, two, or three posts do well. You may gain a lot of followers (because that's what they promise to get you to buy), but then what? Can you replicate it? Does your audience actually care about who you are? Or are you just a one hit wonder like every other creator who tries to get-followers-quick? The creators you love... the ones who put out ideas that actually change your life, understand that the creative process (capturing, resurfacing, and synthesizing ideas) is your competitive edge when everyone is racing to put out as much slop as possible. So we built an actual solution. For the people who know deep down that the toys and gimmicks being marketed to you aren't a long term strategy. It's called Eden. The second brain for creators. “Web3 Jobs Changed My Life.” I came across this old video on Saturday, I made this video on Oct 7th, 2020. It was during the heat of the COVID period. I made this YouTube video to fundraise – beg even – for anyone to contribute money for me to get a PC. I was just starting university in the Department of Computer Science, but I didn't have a PC. I was using a Tecno Y6 that was passed down from my older sister to my older brother to me (a generational phone😅). How was I supposed to survive the department? My dad was currently struggling with cancer; I couldn't ask for money. The only option I thought I had was making that video (which is now embarrassing😅). ----- Plot twist: - No one saw the video (it only had 2 views when I saw it on Saturday). - No one cared! I decided to take action and control over my life. During that same period of October: • I got my first Web3 gig as a community engager, getting paid 6000 Naira per month. • In December 2020, I got a major payout of $500 from a VC to engage in all the projects they invest in. → And right there, on that day, “Web3 jobs changed my life”. ~ I took out 160,000 Naira and bought a laptop. Today: • I'm the Director of Human Resources in a Web3 company, earning a six-figure salary. • I can afford any laptop I need. • I went from being a student with no hope in computer science to being the Faculty of Computing President. “If Web3 jobs can change my life, it can change yours as well.” ----- I took time during the weekend to compile this Notion document that contains a step-by-step guide to groom anyone in Web3 jobs. My co-founder Robert plugged my brain as a tool into his Sauna last month. He can ask it about pricing while I'm in other meetings, gets a sourced answer back, never has to interrupt me. That’s read only. Yolo mode gives him access to all my tools too :O - Communal Saunas extend that to whole companies with proper permissioning. Folder owners decide what's true for the whole company and build skills. Most get their personal brain + read access to communal files and memories. Works also for group planning my best friend's bachelor party. The Way I’ve been obsessed about AI Brain since 2016. Our human brains suck at some things like memory and are brilliant at others like creativity. We are also particularly bad at thinking we are all on the same page and then realising weeks later that we weren’t.
