I'm watching this in my eight-year-old robot, obviously a Tesla Model 3, and my eight-year-old robot is so far superior to that it's not even funny. It just disappoints me at how far behind the auto industry is. Rivian is a very innovative new Silicon Valley company. If they can't do it, God help us with Ford or Chevrolet or any of the Germans or any of the Japanese. I know NVIDIA is coming next year (I've been driving their cars for some time) and theirs is much more compatible. Even the Mercedes was much nicer than this. What a disappointment!

Dude this seems exactly like autopilot with the EXACT same restrictions, which is all it’s supposed to be. Were you this critical of auto pilot? Or just Rivian? Autopilot does these exact things (not stop for red light, but informs you of it, etc.)

Not based on your demo. My autopilot was exactly like this. In fact autopilot is still exactly like this if you don’t have fsd.

I really wonder how they’ll soon get to point to point driving when this is worse than basic autopilot currently 🤔

It’s Tesla 6 years ago in 2020 and Rivian’s CEO wants us to believe it will be fully FSD 14 by next year…. Only non Tesla FSD drivers would believe they could catch up 6 years in 1 year without 11 billion miles of edge data. Not a chance.

Throw a Comma device in that R2. It's many years ahead of "Universal hands free" that's limited to certain roads.

I don't understand why Rivian is so explicitly lying about their autonomous driving system's timeline. It is simply not possible to achieve what Tesla has in less than a year, and better than by next year. Now, Elon made this same mistake in the past with bad timelines.... you'd think they would learn from that????

The SEC should investigate and fine the Rivian CEO for making fraudulent claims. It’s illegal to lie to customers and investors as the CEO of a publicly traded company. It’s a real crime and jail time is often the punishment for this serious offense.

My 2006 Jag adaptive cruise was this level. Please, people don’t really understand FSD supervised level and how good it is. A car stopped to let me in and my Tesla understood. Rivian is lying or stupid to claim they can achieve supervised FSD. I bet lying or there is a licensing deal from Tesla in the works.

Elon has crazy timelines but for RJ to say that they are 6 months from point-to-point when they are shipping this hands free basic autosteer feature is wild.
