Saw it last night. I have seen the other two Chess musicals. They need a rework quickly. Too confusing. Drop the salt 2 and other political references. Keep generic. Change Freddie’s last name and smarmy references from arbiter. Having arbiter say stuff like “Cold War musical” trying to be funny, was irritating. Sometimes the band was too ahead of the singing. Drop svetlana, she was screeching. Drop Pity the man, the song with the Russians. Go back to original from London. Don’t have them stand at microphone going through chess moves. Put them all alone at a chess board shouting their move and then quickly hitting a bell….there is more to change but don’t release the way you have it.
