Rats don’t typically need baths as they are usually very good at cleaning themselves, though an occasional bath is completely okay and normal! Here everyone is getting a bi-monthly mite prevention treatment! Mites come in on shavings regularly. 1/2

Male rats also build a grime on their skin called ‘buck grease’ which can be if it from bathing as they are incapable of cleaning that themselves. Older rats often need assistance with cleaning themselves as they can soil themselves, however I bathe elders by hand in the sink

Why are you bathing rats? They are self cleaning much like cats. The reason they are all crapping and cleaning themselves is because they are nervous. They don't like it and it's pointless.

it sounds like someone is having respiratory inflammation which is very common with rats so you probably already know, with this many babies i would recommend getting a nebulizer. just wanted to say something in case you didnt notice, all ur babys look so cute and healthy! cheers

yes usually if there’s a proper reason like they’ve gotten themselves so dirty they’re somehow unable to clean it themselves nah? i doubt all of them needed a bath at the same time unless they actually enjoy it idk why u would do this. they seem super stressed here.

It’s very hard.. but you learn to appreciate the time you had with them rather than mourn their loss! There’s still some that are so close to my heart it hurts to this day.. but the love and joy they give makes it worth the heart break ❤️
