that finale still haunts me i can not bring myself to ever rewatch that show bc of that shit

tbh even s01 robin wouldn't have ended up with ted. she was honest about herself from day 1, but he chose to ignore it, because he was chasing a fantasy, and tracy was his reality. 10yrs later i still cant understand what the writers were thinking honestly

s1 robin wouldn't have but the writers were probably planning to make her change however in s4 they decided to make swarkles happen despite it never being planned to start with which made their og plan make even less sense

On every rewatch i turn off the show during their wedding when he tells tracy "look i got the girl" this is the ending idegaf about ted‘s happiness

it's crazy how much they torpedo'd like all the growth robin and barney had. really bummed me out

All their development just for her to end up back with Ted

robin not even having an individual ending, her just being on screen in the finale when it was about ted literally still haunts me

I will never get over turning Robin miserable and alone because of her "career woman" ambitions, referring to Tracy as "the mother of his children" (valuing motherhood rather than her personhood), and only giving her joy in the end by ending up with the MC. Rotten ending.

Barney deserved his happy ending with Robin. I hate how they only used Barney as a humorous punching bag, which is why I don't like this show.

ships side, the ending did: - didn't give screentime to robin unless it was about ted, she didn't get an individual ending - destroyed barney's individual character development - the friend group fell apart completely with no turning back

The last season did suck for most part why did they have marshall goofing around and silly stuff. They should have given some space for atleast some episodes after the mother died. The mother was so perfect, they did her dirty by immediately having the timeskip after she died

Yep. Funny people say stuff like "Everything needs to be planned out in advance like Breaking Bad". They were making that show up as it went along- but followed a natural end point.

some stuff need to be planned out in advance i won't argue on that especially surnaturel shows but you need to allow a deep conversation on characters' individual endings and not get stuck on the og plan when you went off the og route numberous time throughout the show

You cant "go back" to the original plan in such a jarring way when the characters clearly evolved. It was an insult what they did.

Para além do shipp, o que me deixa com mais raiva sobre o final de HIMYM é que toda a construção do Barney foi jogada no LIXO. O personagem com mais desenvolvimento na série e eles jogaram tudo fora no final por causa de um término.

Having the entire final season revolve around the literal day of their wedding, 20+ episodes centered around one 24-hour period, only for the finale to do an entire divorce arc off-screen so she could go be Ted's prize after he loses Tracy... I AM SO SICK.
