First vibecoded three.js mesh gradient feature: influence field! • Use mouse position to influence vertex transforms • Plug influence into any other material feature • Shader completion didn't really work when I tried with ChatGPT ~2 years ago, now it's decent • link below

Made a thread of the prior work here (5+ years of experiments and WYSIWYG tools).. three.js was an awesome way for me to learn web programming, react, and more about graphics. Now I'm hopping back in because AI tools are making it fun!

Stunning! In my experience three.js still has potential to kill browsers on even well powered devices but hopefully efficiency improvements will resolve this over time

Yes here is my 10 minute breathless rant about why I'm so excited about Notion Workers + Custom Agents... Context: I spent this afternoon building a custom agent to help me manage Shiori (a side project I shipped last weekend). I gave the custom agent everything it needs to understand what's happening in my product (email, log drain, sentry alerts, stripe payments, etc) and to do work on my behalf (access to coding agents). In an afternoon of tinkering, this agent can: - Diagnose bug reports proactively by looking through past email conversations, system logs, and database records - Draft replies to user questions with the correct answer based on past email threads, or help me proactively reach out to churning paid users - Self-construct a database of feature requests with an understanding of who is requesting the feature and how they're using the product today - Answer any question I have about how people use the app and what I should be thinking about next - Initiate Claude Code workflows to open PRs proactively in the background when someone sends a bug report or feature request This custom agent is now my "Side Project Chief of Staff" (I don't really know what a chief of staff does but this sounds right). I didn't write a single line of the worker code because I didn't need to: models are so good that I can link to the Workers readme, yap my desired outcome into a microphone, and I get a super-personal and highly-capable AI agent out the other side. So fucking cool. The future is now! I'm excited to see what everyone makes.

How I get shit done, Episode 001 I've set up a playbook called ‘land’, which is triggered automatically when I drag an issue into the merging column in Linear. That reliably runs CI and merges any green PRs. This has allowed me to ship way faster than before. I think the key takeaway here is you can try to build your own code factory and your own agent orchestration layer, but it is a huge amount of work. The truth is there are entire companies with massive funding that are already tackling this and it's just easier to use their platform. I think this is a lot like if you were a carpenter: you could build your own generator, fuel it, wire it up, and then build a plug and then you could plug your saw into it. Or you could just plug your saw into the wall. Because the electricity company has already done all the work in the infrastructure and investment to make that plug work. I think more of us who are building companies should just be plugging into the wall instead of trying to build all this tooling ourselves. As a dev it's so tempting to build your own dev tools but I think a lot of times, even though you can build fast with agents now, it's a complete waste of time. It probably sounds like I'm being paid by Devin or something but I have zero financial interest here. They don't give me credits. I'm not an investor. I'm not being paid. I just think the tooling is really damn good. If you used Devin a long time ago and wrote it off, you really should have another look - for $500/month it's pretty obscene what you can get done.

- AssetHub officially launched - Using Metahuman Component as parts system in UEFN This is crazy! Just discovered I can use the Metahuman Component in UEFN as a general parts system! Perfect for modular characters. So I had to test it out. First step: character design. With GPT Image 2 I got some really solid characters to work with. These are perfect to test anime/ lowpoly models as well. Gavin Harvey also officially launched so I jumped on a fresh workflow to build the first one. Since I’m aiming for an anime/flat shaded style, I chose Tripo P1 to generate straight to low poly models. Results were perfect for me, UV and textured directly done. Did the main assembly in Blender. I transferred weights onto the new parts (like the jacket here) and used proportional editing to tweak vertices so everything fits together nicely. Then into UEFN / Unreal Engine: For the two-tone shadow look, I made a material that uses the sun direction as a mask. To make all the modular parts work together, I set up a blueprint with the body skeletal mesh as the base, and all the other parts attached as children. Now the really cool part: the Metahuman Component actually lets you plug in extra body parts directly. And every skeletal mesh can have its own Control Rig slot. That means you can layer procedural animations on top of your main animation setup. I used it for procedural eye blinking and hair physics. Since every part is separate, swapping variations is super easy while keeping all animations perfectly synced!

William Lustig on the one advantage he had over other filmmakers before he made 'Maniac' (1980) & the movies that influenced him: "Lustig: When I did 'Maniac' (1980) at 24, I never thought I was making a movie that would turn out to be a classic. I didn’t know. I was just trying to make our money back and at the same time make the scariest movie that I could. Interviewer: The scary scenes work extremely well in 'Maniac'. What were your examples at the time? Lustig: Bear in mind: I had one advantage over other film makers at the time and that was an insatiable appetite to watch every film that was ever made. It was a great period in New York – in the late sixties, the seventies and starting to dwindle in the early eighties – where there were repertory theaters that played double features of classic movies. So, I really got to see a lot of movies. I would go seven days a week. I would skip school and see movies during the day. My influences at the time were 'Rosemary's Baby', the Dario Argento movies, Lucio Fulci. All of these directors I was aware of before they became popular. 'The Bird with the Crystal Plumage' (1970) was a big influence. 'Deep Red' (1975) a big influence. I thought of Hitchcock quite a bit. If I were to dissect 'Maniac' with you I could tell you what was going through my mind in various scenes and certain shots." (William Lustig's interview with Roel Haanen, 2009) P.S: On this day, 46 years ago 'Maniac' (1980) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, France.

6 months ago, building an app required: - 6 months of development - $300K budget - Team of 5 developers - Constant manual debugging Today, I'm helping a 17-year-old build one in a week. Workflow: ChatGPT -> Lovable -> Supabase -> Cursor Step-by-step how: 1/ Write your PRD first. This is non-negotiable. Clear requirements on paper = 10x faster execution with AI. We spent 30 minutes documenting exactly what PostPal needed to do. Then gave it to ChatGPT: "Create a Lovable prompt from this PRD." Copy. Paste. Done. 2/ Your first prompt sets everything. That initial Lovable prompt? It's your foundation. Give it the full high-level vision. Every feature. Every flow. Lovable uses this context for everything that follows. Get this wrong and you'll rebuild from scratch. 3/ Database first, frontend second. Biggest mistake I see: Building the entire UI, then trying to connect data. Set up Supabase immediately. Create your tables. Configure role-level security. Build backend and frontend together, not separately. 4/ Go feature by feature. Don't attack all screens at once. Pick one core feature. Build it completely. Connect it to your database. Test it. Then move to the next. Each feature should be fully functional before moving on. 5/ Chat mode is your debugging superpower. When something breaks (it will): → Use chat mode to diagnose → Let it explain the issue → Switch to agent mode to fix Chat mode for understanding. Agent mode for implementing. This combo saved us hours. 6/ Security isn't optional. Before deploying: → Enable row-level security → Secure your edge functions → Check your API endpoints → Run Lovable's security check Takes 5 minutes. Saves you from disasters. The result? A fully functional app. Not a prototype. Not a demo. A real product with authentication, database, and payments. The game has completely changed. While others debate if AI will replace developers... We're shipping products before lunch. The tools are here. The playbook is proven. The only question is: what will you build? Time to ship.

I tried jack's Buzz. It's like Slack + OpenClaw + Herdr + but with some really unique features that people are sleeping on. The video below shows how it works, and some of my thoughts on the process and platform, e.g.: - Create and interact with agents on top of any harness (claude code, codex, pi, etc.) - Choose which models agents use, including local ones - Agents can delegate work and work in parallel in git worktrees - Agents are first-class citizens and work like humans (creating channels, delegating, access to chat history) - You can share AI compute within a community - It's completely open-source and decentralized Things I like: - Delegating work in chat feels natural: tag an agent, it replies in a thread with status updates as it e.g. compiles, commits, and deploys. - Shared compute: relay owners can share local compute with members, so a community could pool funds for one beefy machine running a local model and everyone uses it. - It's built on Nostr, an open protocol already tied into Bitcoin Lightning so I can imagine communities tipping each other or paying for compute/agent tasks with instant zero-fee micropayments in the future. - It ties together things like OpenClaw, an agent manager, and Slack-style chat into one tool. Things I didn't like: - You can't see what the agent is doing in a terminal. The activity view exists, but if you're used to watching a session run, this UI feels a bit abstracted. A terminal view would be great. - It feels slower than running a session in Claude Code, though no evidence to back that up. For that reason I found myself doing one-off tasks in the terminal instead. Verdict: - I really like it so far and can genuinely imagine working with a team this way. - It doesn't feel ready for big, complex tasks yet. For shallower tasks, it's perfect. - The shared compute + Nostr/Lightning angle is what really separates it from every other agent manager for me, and I think that future is coming.

Finally new version of text system is released on our website ! I released as update to old version but in reality it's completely new thing in material and lot's of work in verse. I'm still working on documentation or/and videos but here is a list of good stuff it does: - Material got much lighter as slots logic moved to vertex shader. - Characters can overlap and still won't be cut out compared to old version. - Character can be animated and I already implemented some (wave, scale up/down and shake). - Custom face camera logic which works with prop scale so no need to additionally specify with and height. - Rows offset automatically when scale up or down any row. - Text effects now can be applied to any character, so words or single character. - Custom glint which works perfectly with any number of rows as a single line with multiple important controls. - Higher quality outline with two parameters to control inner and outer edge. - Timer logic split into to parts, verse and material. Verse setup initial layout and reserve slots for timer digits and then each second just sends seconds value and GPU makes timer tick freeing verse TPS by huge number. - To apply effects simply need use parsing markup with custom tag where N number between 1-9. So simply can write " Hello World" and word Hello will have rainbow effect applied. Currently implemented 4 effects. - To use icons in slots from texture array is as simple as specify another tag [iconN] where N is number of icon in array. So for example if coin is icon index 0 just need to write [icon1]100K. - Progress bar is supported as well and can be snapped to row without eyeball offset. - Background image supported now too! In the video yellow one is as test and you can use any of your own. Verse side got lots of changes: - Now saves/caches layouts better. - Smart packing of data allowed drastically reduce number of parameters, which should help with network optimization! - Instead having vector parameter per each slot to just send character index and position (32x5=160 if used 5 rows) now it's only 11 vector parameters per each row so 11x5=55 which is huge save and it sends text effects index in it too! - Implemented text update queue for text which doesn't require instant update. It helps to give more breathing for other text props which needs that speed. - Materials code now use interface and wrappers for cleaner work. If you still read it then thank you! :) On our website we now run 25% sale! And if you own old version please DM me here or in Discord and I will give you promo code for 100% discount on our website! Caller: I'm $451,000 in total debt. $252,000 of that is student loans, and I have 185 in a home loan. I only bring in $70,000 a year. After pension and all that stuff taken out, it's more like $40,000. I just don't know where to start. Dave Ramsey: What do you do for a living? Caller: Law enforcement. Dave Ramsey: How do you get $252,000 in student loan debt to be a policeman? Caller: I went to a private institution because my mother wanted me to go there. I went there originally for finance, didn't do good, so I switched my major to criminal justice, and then eventually went on for a master's as well, which didn't really help my employment eligibility as much as I thought it would. Dave Ramsey: Is your mother wealthy? Caller: No, neither my mother nor my father. I'm the first in my family to go to college. Dave Ramsey: Mathematically, we always look at the ratio of shovel to hole. The amount of hole you're in versus the shovel you have, your debt to your income. Are you married? Caller: No, I have a girlfriend who lives with me, and her daughter as well. Dave Ramsey: What is this house worth? Caller: I actually just purchased it off of a whim. My father passed away and it was the last conversation we had. It was across the street from his house, and he really wanted me to get it, so I jumped in with both feet to honor him. Dave Ramsey: So you didn't put anything down, so the house is worth $185,000? Caller: Yeah. Dave Ramsey: How old are you? Caller: I'm 31. Dave Ramsey: When are you planning on marrying this girl? Caller: She's currently in school to finish up for nurse practitioner. Sometime after that, hopefully after January. Dave Ramsey: Does she have student loan debt? Caller: She does. Dave Ramsey: How much? Caller: I'm not sure because she's not really on board with all this. I've tried to bring this up to her when listening to your show recently, and her thing is, "I'm too busy with school and don't want to worry about that right now." Dave Ramsey: I think you're the voice of experience that says it's a good idea to worry about it, otherwise you end up up a creek, which is where you are right now, and your paddle is real small. You told me in a five-minute conversation of two really stupid financial decisions you made from the influence of your mother and your father. You bought things you couldn't afford with money you didn't have, because of their influence. At 31 years old, you're going to have to decide to love your parents but no longer be influenced to do financial decisions based on their opinion, or even your perceived opinion of what your father would have thought. You cannot please these people anymore. They are breaking you. You make $70,000 a year and you're so far in debt you can't breathe. Buying a house you can't afford, going to a school you shouldn't have gone to and paying twice or three times as much for an education that you didn't even need to do the job you do. Am I wrong? Caller: Right. No, not at all. Dave Ramsey: Number one, that influence has to stop. Number two, you can't afford this house as a single guy making $70,000 a year.

Have to put it in? ㅋㅋ 🐥: *Mixes the sauce* it's kinda... doesn't really look that good, first thing first 👩🏻: It strangely has the color of fermented soybean paste stew 👤: Have you had Haidilao with Kyungsoo-ssi? 🐥: We just had it a month ago in Shanghai, the members together, the members all like Haidilao 👤: Then, have the members tried each other's sauces? 🐥: We don't really interfere with each other's sauces~ because for 14 years, each of us have our own preferences~ 👩🏻: So you've never tried each other's sauce? 🐥: Nope, this is my first time 👩🏻: Then, shall we try it? 🐥: Yes 🐥👩🏻: *Tries it* 👩🏻: Mmm!! This sauce is good, i think this sauce is fine 🐥: Hmm, how should i say it, i think it's just only salty! 👩🏻: Ah, is that so? 🐥: It's too salty! Kinda like one side has collapsed (unbalanced)? 👩🏻: Ah, so (according to you) Kyungsoo-ssi's is kinda collapsed? 🐥: Yes. For now, undecided.

Naval Ravikant on the right reasons to start a company “I really just wanted to be a founder,” Naval confesses with respect to the first few companies he started. “That desire kind of overrode everything… It was not a pure motivation.” Then his motivation shifted to money and power: “Nobody wants to talk about it, but [money and power] are fundamental drivers,” he admits. “I want to make money, and I want a company that has an influence. And that wasn’t that great of a motivation either.” Naval continues: “Now looking back in my career, I was most successful when I did projects because I was genuinely curious about them… Following my own intellectual curiosity gave me insight that led to good investments, startups, and outcomes.” Today Naval is in a position where he doesn’t have to do things for money or status, so he only works on products he wants to see exist: “What’s a beautiful thing I can make that wouldn’t exist if I didn’t put effort into it?” he asks himself. “And what people do I want to spend all my time around?” Naval reflects: “The truth is that when your material desires are somewhat met, you end up extremely bored… When you don’t have to hustle for a living, you’re like, ‘What do I do?’ You’ve lost your purpose in life. You can go meditate in a corner for a long time, but that gets boring too. You can go completely hedonistic, but that’s a death trap and just an empty lifestyle.” He continues: “What I want to do is self-actualize. I want to be the best version of myself. And what does the best version of myself mean? That means creating something. It’s better to create than to consume. It’s far more fulfilling to learn along the way and build… And I want to do it with friends — people that I really respect, admire, and enjoy spending time with… I wish I had that motivation and insight 20-30 years ago.” Source: Z Fellows (Aug 2025)
