In his first interview, Liam told Camilo Montoya-Galvez his biggest fear is being detained by ICE again. While Liam and his father were ordered released from ICE custody, his parents worry about the government’s continued efforts to deport the family to their native Ecuador, as well as the mental health of their son, who’s now seeing a psychologist. The Trump administration recently terminated the family’s asylum case and is asking a federal court to allow ICE to re-detain them, saying that they’re in the U.S. illegally.
