This looks like a toy. It's actually the meanest little vision eval I've built. The task: look at an emoji image, then repaint it on a 16×16 grid, one pixel at a time. Just the model, a tiny canvas, and up to 2000 brushstrokes. What I didn't expect was the personalities. > some models REGRET a stroke and go back to repaint it > some get stuck looping the same little patch over and over, like they're trying to animate it > some are calm little surgeons and just nail it first try And the task is genuinely mean: it has to see the image, crush it down to 256 cells, then decide what's actually load-bearing: > the tears on 😂 but still keep the smile > the horn on 🦄 > the antenna on 🤖 and keep the soul of it with almost no resolution to spare. 5 models. 7 emojis. My third visit to Mexico City and a lot has changed for the good. The time is now to take the fight to the cartels. What has changed? President Trump has made this a priority just like he said he would. President Sheinbaum and her head of security Omar Harfuch are breaking records in drug busts and arrests, targeting Sinaloa’s fentanyl production mostly. They are also open to American help for the first time in…maybe ever. This is a terrorist-insurgency problem that is destroying Mexico and killing Americans. Defeating the cartels will require a Counter-Insurgency strategy that involves every agency in both the U.S. and Mexico. Our biggest problem? Congress still isn’t focused. I’ve worked for over a year as head of our Cartel Task Force (with no additional staff and no funding) to develop a whole-of-government strategy to defeat the cartels and produce the legislation that President Trump will need. But there is more work to do. It’s why I asked Speaker Mike Johnson to create a Select Committee on Cartels so we could hire proper staff and get the legislation right. He told me that he agreed. So do all the Chairmen that co-sponsored the select committee idea, like Rep. Jim Jordan, James Comer, Rep. Brian Mast, Mike Rogers, Rep. Mark Green, French Hill, Rep. Brett Guthrie, Brian Babin, Bryan Steil, and Congressman Michael Guest. It’s a no brainer. We should vote on it next week and get to work.
