In 2016 and 2017, Joe Biden sat down with a ghostwriter to draft his memoir “Promise Me, Dad.” Special Counsel Robert Hur obtained these tapes in his investigation of whether Joe Biden mishandled classified information, and released a report stating that Biden read classified notes to the ghostwriter nearly verbatim on at least three occasions. These tapes, including Biden’s poor memory, were a key reason that Special Counsel Hur declined to prosecute Joe Biden. Since 2024 the Committee has been seeking the tapes, and recommended holding Zwonitzer in Contempt of Congress after he failed to comply with our subpoena to produce them.
