Flashback to 1982 when SPOTY was a respected BBC Christmas staple. Presented by the legendary Harry Carpenter, awards were given purely on merit. How far have we fallen...?

I loved watching Hurricane Higgins...

My two favourite SPOTY winners from yesteryear:

Great choices.

I’ve no problem with the winner just the format it’s pathetically woke

I only watched the last 15 mins. Presenters unwatchable.

To be fair, Hodgkinson did really well and deserved it this year.

How isn’t an Olympic Gold Medalist winner who is the fastest British woman to ever run that distance, having dominated her discipline worldwide, not worthy? I will add the young lady did it aged 18/19 years old! Think how many Olympics she could possibly be at the top of her game.

I'm OK with the winner just the line up was poor and presenters unwatchable.

Is there a problem with Hodgkinson winning?

No just the presentation and some of the pointless awards and diversity line up.
