My mom passed peacefully at 1:11pm two days ago, surrounded by her three little birds, my sister, my brother, and me, holding her hand and stroking her head as we sang to her. The song Three Little Birds came on at just the right moment, like it was meant for her. And it was. She took her final breaths wrapped in our love, with music, light, and presence guiding her home. She was the brightest soul I’ve ever known. A radiant artist. A lover of dance, beauty, color, and connection. She saw magic in people, even those she’d never met, and bridged the gap between hearts without hesitation. She made everyone feel seen. She brought joy everywhere she went. She taught me how to notice life, how to play, how to trust the light within me. If you’ve ever been touched by my love or joy, it was seeded by her. After she passed, we stayed with her. We thanked her spirit, and we thanked her body for holding so much love, for creating us, for doing its job beautifully despite everything. And as we left the room, we did what she would have loved most: we clapped and cheered for her. Because she deserved a standing ovation. I told her I’d see her in every rainbow. In every 11:11. The theme park enforces a strict age limit especially for unaccompanied minors. They even have a sign posted that anybody under 17 has to be accompanied by a minor. This woman dropped off her kids at the water park and none of them were over the age of 17. They were also breaking rules and running wild. The mom seems to imply they were kicked out for another reason but I don’t think so. Follow the rules and everybody wins right? Such an easy to grasp concept. When I was younger, my neighbors parents and my parents used to drop us kids off at the pool for the day, it was never an issue. We were all between 10-13 years old. The park didn’t have an age restriction posted and we all knew how to act right and stay out of trouble. This was during the golden era of the Super Soaker water guns. I had a Super Soaker 200 and my friends had a 50 and a 100. Other kids would bring their water guns too and we would all have water gun fights at the pool. We’ve done this before and nobody ever had an issue. But on this day, we encountered our first pool Karen. She was mad because her kid was squirted with a water gun while in the pool. The kid didn’t even care nor did she have an issue because she had a water gun too. But this lady was so outraged that her kid who participated in a water gun fight was blaster by a water gun. The park manager had his hands tied and actually booted many of us out for creating a disturbance but not for having and using the water guns. Yeah we were mad and disappointed because we normally didn’t leave until 5pm and it was only 12pm. We had to call one of our parents to come and get us and explain why we got booted out. My friend’s mom spoke to the manager and intervened on our behalf. She said why isn’t the woman’s child booted as well, why was it only us? The manager didn’t really had a good explanation for it and ended up letting us back in to the Karen’s dismay. She objected and the manager told her that if we had to leave then she had to leave as well because her child was doing the same thing as well. She huffed and puffed but backed off because she didn’t want to lose the $13 admission she had to pay. For the rest of the day we didn’t use the water guns, we actually ended up putting them away in my friend’s mom’s car when she came to pick us up.

So I told her the truth. I had been thinking about divorce too. I felt like she had changed. I knew her worth after nine years of marriage. But I knew mine too. The longest argument we had after that was over the dog. We got him after the move because she wanted one, and so I wouldn’t be alone. in two years she barely spent time with him. l took care of him every day.
