‼️ MUST ADD FOR PRACTICE ‼️ Olympic style 3x3 is quickly becoming one of the best 'SSGs' for overall development. It's really fast paced, and every possession is played with a ton of purpose. Players play with maximum spacing, build endurance WITH THE BALL and, if done properly, SHOT QUALITY is the games' biggest emphasis. Realizing people might not have realized that by "flower game" I mean this end screen is a DIRECT reference to the book of unveiling in Destiny 2, which itself refers to a modified version of John Horton Conway's Game of Life; the book refers to this as The Flower Game, a zero-player game where the only move is the initial set up of the pieces and their behaviors. I think if this Durandal is the one from the end of Marathon Infinity, then perhaps he's found a way to influence the Flower Game, and is using that influence to re-write the universe to create a reality that allows his escape from reality itself.

A big shift in college basketball: STAY OUT OF ROTATION AT ALL COSTS. Contested shooting % in the paint is a bigger advantage for the defense, than it is the offense when the alternative is a long closeout. In the event teams guard a ball screen with 3, instead of 2, the tag and rotation is short and extremely crisp in most cases. To counter this, offenses have gone into heavy 'EMPTY BELOW THE NAIL' looks to stretch the tag. UC Irvine uses a goalie in the key, 'whips' off ball screening actions and lock and trail all perimeter threats. They also stay home (packline gaps) beautifully on penetration. This allows them to rebound at a high level as well. 👇🏼

Thoughts on One-Knee Setups: One of the toughest things, with the increase in velocity, is a catcher's ability to make the correct decision and attack angle to receive or block a baseball. This becomes easier and quicker out of a one knee set up, due to the ability to sit lower and have a better visual of the plane of the baseball. This allows for the catcher to wait longer, have confidence in his decision with receiving approach and minimize excessive movement or what umpires call noise. You see this a lot with last minute decisions and jerky movements out of traditional set ups. This concept is also beneficial when blocking and recognizing the height of the pitch sooner, due to the lower set up and increasing blocking efficiency.

Too many players guard the ball passive. We need our players to impact and disrupt the ball - No Comfy QBs. Here’s our 3-part progression: #1. 12 Seconds of Hell A continuous 4sec–4sec–4sec rep to teach layered ball pressure: 4 sec of ball tracing: hand above the ball (not across body), pressure passers, pop back on rips. 4 sec of live dribble: small space containment, stunt and recover. 4 sec of dead ball pressure: vocal pressure “DEAD DEAD DEAD,” limit vision, force back foot passes. #2. Man in the Middle A simple drill that goes back to childhood. 2 passers, 15 ft apart. No overhead passes. Defender must slap the ball to start each on-ball rep. If they force a deflection, errant pass, or movement from the receiver → passer is in the middle on defense. #3. Fake Game 1v1 with only 1 or 0 dribbles. Forces defenders to pressure and disrupt without getting blown by. If they sag too much, they give space for an easier shot or downhill free dribble. If they pressure, they learn to force wide and force tough shots. We call it HEAT. Every defender's heat is different, but everyone needs to impact the ball in some way. No spectators or statues on the ball waiting to be attacked.

I hate to nitpick but this 3-run moon ball is kind of a rally killer. Small ball keeps the pressure on and turns the lineup over to the better hitters. Especially this early in the game. I’d like to see Shaw be a better teammate in the future
