Every time I see this video I remember when my inexperienced self got up to 120+ mph on the Buckman Bridge in Florida. I kept thinking “If I hit a pebble I’m gone”. The man in video life flighted to hospital, broken ribs, punctured lung, broken clavicle. I bought a Kawasaki Ninja when I was 30. Had it for about a few weeks & decided to gun it. Got up to 120mph on it. (Which is nothing for experienced riders). Wife had just given birth to my first daughter. Sold that thing next day. This dude shouldn’t have started with a 1000.

Tough decision this morning, it was a big moment in the calendar - Sports Day Dad’s race. I’ve been struggling for a week with a strained lower back & my chiropractor said don’t do anything too strenuous this week so it probably wasn’t the right thing to do. But I had my little girl saying “just give it a try Daddy”. So there was only one thing for it… The expectation & pressure was on. 💭 “Just get out in front & stay there” 1st place, in 2nd gear & thankfully in one piece. See you next year 🥇

I opened it up to do Zoom calls last week thinking I’d just get a few. 40 people booked calls within the first 24 hours. 🥴 I was worn out. But, one the underlying theme was “Hey I’m looking at this land in NC/TN/GA..is this a good piece?” Let me reiterate…what lurks below those top few inches of soil in ANY mountainous area you buy land or buy a single lot in can be a total nightmare. You have to be very careful with that initial purchase. Anyone who did a Zoom call with me found out the main key steps to go through before you sign a contract, but, let here is a recent example of 1/2 acre lot I built a cabin on recently, in an existing development. The amount of rock we had to bust through almost killed the job. It took over 2 months of non stop hammering to get the lot prepped with my CAT machines. This is why I have a very detailed approach before I even buy a small lot to build on at this point. The cost of excavating/prepping even a small 1/3 acre the lot can run you well north of $100,000 if you’re not careful.

Found this little bee yesterday morning, struggling to stay upright. Gave him sugar water, put him in a safe place, even got up over night to check on him. Took 24hrs but he's just done a big fat buzz, & flown away, up into the sky. I like to think he waved to me as he went. 🐝

Punch seriously wanted to groom, but instead of picking bugs, he was picking fur! 😭😭 His intention was clear: find a bug, remove it, and proudly eat it like a proper monkey groomer. Unfortunately, all he managed to find was fur... and then he started eating the fur instead! 🤣🤣🤣 The big monkey didn't even say anything. Maybe he was thinking, "Well... at least the kid is trying." 😅 And now the big guy has officially learned about Punch's grooming skills. 😭😪🤣 No problem, Punch! You gave it your best effort, and that's what counts. We appreciate the dedication and enthusiasm. ❤️😍❤️🫶👍😁 Better luck next time, little groomer! Good question. A lot of side hustles are hard to break into, but one I “kinda” did when I bought my CAT equipment was driveway grading, ditching, etc. You really only need a CAT 304 or small skid steer (259). I bought my machines to clear my own lots but figured I’d see if I could get a few “side jobs” to offset the cost of the machines. Posted a few comments in some Smoky Mtn groups I’m in on Facebook that my guys and I can do “Driveway grading, smoothing out, ditch cleanouts, gravel spreading, lot prep, etc”. I COULD NOT KEEP UP with the amount of people wanting the work done. It had me and 2 of my employees constantly running around giving estimates, grading this, clearing that. To the point it was taking me away from my new build construction sites too much. I did probably $100,000 in work in a 3 month period. I finally had to just stop doing it because my main goal was building cabins and it was taking my focus away from that. But, a person can quickly learn how to operate a mini-excavator (304) or small skid steer and by throwing a few ads on FB marketplace you can probably gauge the interest. Again, there are many side hustles out there if you’re willing to work, this was just one that kind of fell in my lap because I bought some CAT equipment. I’d pull in $10,000+ for a 2 day job usually. One job we pulled in $28,000 to clear the land, spread gravel and put in a stormwater drain. Took about 8 days and just needed my 304 and 299 there.
