Stephen A. Smith’s voice nearly cracks with RAGE as he goes off on Keith Olbermann. Olbermann urged ESPN to “fire” Smith’s ass, and Smith has finally had enough. “I want to say this about Keith Olbermann. I’m sick of your pathetic ass. I really, really am. You’re a 66-year-old — barely with any friends. Who the hell knows what’s going on in your life? “And all you do is sit back, and the second you disagree with somebody, you pop shit. You, of all people. You! You! (voice cracking) Keith Olbermann! Literally trying to get me fired. “‘It’s time for ESPN to fire Stephen A. He’s hurting the brand. He’s bad. He’s. He’s damaging the brand.’ What?! Cartoon character? Who looks more like a cartoon character than you? Keith Olbermann, you can’t run five feet with your fat self. “And I’m not talking about fat people. I’m talking about Keith Olbermann. You can’t run five feet. You’ve been walking around with a keg, a cane, exercising melodrama every chance you get. All you do is make enemies. “You napalm bridges all the time! Including ESPN, and you got the nerve to talk about me?… “I want y’all to know, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been in this business since 1994. I have never uttered a negative syllable about Keith Olbermann — ever! “… So why does he have to resort to being seen on YouTube and barely anywhere else? Because nobody wants him. Because he’s a raw pain in the ass. That’s why.”

NEW: Miss “Moderate Democrat” “Hometown Farmer” Hallie Shoffner Hallie Shoffner, who is running for US Senate in Arkansas against GOP Senator Tom Cotton, proudly boasted about “leading the charge” at a 2010 pro-trans parade in Lima, Peru. The parade was organized by the NGO Promsex, #NiñasNoMadres which worked with Pathfinder International, an organization that according to InfluenceWatch was heavily backed by Barack Hussein Obama’s USAID during his first term. Video uncovered by Loomer Unleashed from Promsex’s YouTube page of the 2010 parade shows half-naked men running around the streets as they wave the pride flag. I would hardly call this event appropriate for Arkansas culture. Hallie Shoffner’s writing on this matter shows she proudly led the charge at the parade in Peru, with a key quote from her blog on the trip reading: “I marched in the FRONT of Lima’s 9th Annual Gay Pride Parade. I mean in the very front. Leading the charge. My org, Promsex, funded the parade so our staff carried the opening banner…. we were celebrating being gay, lesbian, transexual, bisexual...” Hallie has been exposed as pro-trans, pro-Green New Deal, and she supports abolishing ICE U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This lady is a WOKE disaster and she should be rejected by Arkansas voters. Hallie wants you to think she is a “moderate Democrat”. The receipts prove she is a woke radical leftist. Arkansas should send Tom Cotton back to the US Senate. Cc: Senate Democrats Senate Republicans RECEIPTS 👇🏻

First in depth review of FSD v15 on Robotaxi. This video highlights key moments, uncut video in comments. After hearing Ashok Elluswamy mention Robotaxi was running FSD v15, I immediately went on a ride! There are definitely parts of the drive that behave different than the current customer version of FSD. At the very beginning of the drive, the Robotaxi encounters a stationary car which was waiting to supercharge. The wheel is twitching to go around the car. I believe this is to slowly inch to the left to gain more context and visibility to proceed, rather than diving straight in as 14.3.x would have. Ensuring the road is clear prevents the need to reverse in the event of a car coming from the opposite side. Exactly what I would have done. The acceleration and braking behavior of the model are much better than v14. It is MUCH better at predicting the following distance from the car in front. I experienced no brake stabs at all. The turn signal behavior is exactly where I would like it. Not too early, but not too late as to alarm the driver behind of a last minute turn. Unlike 14.3.x, it gets into the lane that it needs to much earlier in order to avoid messing up the flow of traffic later. In the middle of the drive, I noticed we were slowing down in the middle of the road. Not abruptly, but a calm deceleration. Turns out it was waiting for 2 ducks to pass! Great job on that. The ducks didn't get startled because the car saw them earlier on and reacted accordingly. Instantly as the duck gets on the curb, it continues. No hesitation. It also avoids a pothole that Robotaxi and my personal car always used to hit. It drives by people on the sidewalk without jitteriness or sudden movements. v14.3.x sometimes gives too much space between the car and pedestrian causing it to cross in the adjacent lane. At a red light, the lane that the Robotaxi was in had more cars in front of it, so it turned from a speed of 0 to get into the shorter lane. This smart behavior allowed it to make the green light as the cars it passed got stuck when the light turned red. FSD performs U-turns flawlessly without slowing down or extensive checking for clearance. Lane changes don't seem sudden as they do in v14.3.x. The initial turn of the wheel is smooth. The gold path on the Robotaxi's screen smoothly changes lanes, making the car perform a smoother transition. Overall, the whole ride was executed EXACTLY as I would have done it. For this ride, I give it a 10/10. There was no point where I was confused in why Robotaxi made the decision it did. The model is more confident, assertive and humanlike. I did not get to observe yellow light behavior or school zones in this ride, but I am sure the car handles them well. All of the little things this ride exhibited make the car blend in really well in Houston traffic during rush hour. Outstanding job on Robotaxi Self-Driving v15 Tesla AI, Ashok Elluswamy, and Elon Musk 👏 This video highlights the best parts. Complete raw video is in the comments.

POV: you time-traveled back to 2005 with a flip cam... but the footage is secretly 4K Created with Flova × Seedance 2.5 Prompt: Preserve the exact face, hairstyle, identity, skin tone, and body proportions from Image throughout. Outfit: sage-green cut-out halter crop top with lace-up front, light-wash distressed wide-leg jeans with graffiti art and rips, white-and-pink platform sneakers, green tinted sunglasses, matching green headband, layered beaded bracelets, and a small sage-green shoulder bag, loose straight hair. Confident young woman with playful street-style energy. Authentic early-2000s personal vlog aesthetic. Extremely raw handheld MiniDV footage with heavy camera shake, natural reframing, partial face crops, focus hunting, exposure shifts, faded colors, mild digital noise, and authentic home-video imperfections, while retaining sharp 4K micro-detail in skin, denim, and reflections. No posing, no cinematic glamour, no stabilization, no modern color grading. 00:00–00:04 Steps out of a gate onto the narrow lane, adjusting her bag on her shoulder, glancing around the quiet street. "Good morning! Let's see what this neighborhood looks like." 00:04–00:08 Strolls past a wall covered in old paint and potted plants, spinning slightly so the camera catches her outfit, denim catching the morning light. "Check out this fit—thrifted and painted it myself." 00:08–00:11 Close-up insert: camera pushes in on her bracelets and the lace-up detail of her top, fabric texture and stitching crisply visible even through the grainy MiniDV filter. 00:11–00:15 Pauses at a row of parked bicycles, playfully spins one pedal with her foot, crouches to inspect the rusted frame. "These old bikes are kind of cute, honestly." 00:15–00:18 Close-up insert: camera focuses briefly on droplets of dew on a bicycle seat and chipped paint on the frame, sharp micro-detail cutting through the soft, faded home-video tone. 00:18–00:21 Walks toward the small convenience store, waves at an elderly shopkeeper stepping outside, gives a polite bow. "Good morning, sir!" 00:21–00:24 Leans against an old brick wall under hanging laundry, reaches up and pulls off her sunglasses, pushing them up onto her head, blinking in the sunlight. "Feels nice without these for a second." 00:24–00:27 Crouches near a cluster of potted plants, gently touching a leaf, camera autofocus hunting between her face and the greenery. "I love how quiet it is out here." 00:27–00:30 Stands, stretches her arms up, sunlight flaring across the lens, hair catching the breeze, glasses still resting on her head as she turns to keep walking. "Okay, let's keep going." Natural ambience only: distant traffic hum, birds, footsteps on concrete, fabric rustle, faint neighborhood chatter, a bicycle bell, breeze. No background music, subtitles, logos, or watermarks. The footage should feel exactly like a genuine early-2000s handheld MiniDV vlog with authentic human movement and realistic interactions, rendered in crisp 4K detail beneath the vintage texture. PART II Preserve the exact face, hairstyle, identity, skin tone, and body proportions from Image throughout, continuing directly from the previous scene with the same morning light and glasses now resting on her head. Outfit: sage-green cut-out halter crop top with lace-up front, light-wash distressed wide-leg jeans with graffiti art and rips, white-and-pink platform sneakers, green tinted sunglasses, matching green headband, layered beaded bracelets, and a small sage-green shoulder bag, loose straight hair. Confident young woman with playful street-style energy. Authentic early-2000s personal vlog aesthetic. No posing, no cinematic glamour, no stabilization, no modern color grading. 00:30–00:33 Rounds a corner further down the same concrete lane, utility poles and old walls still visible behind her, slight motion blur as she turns. "There's a cute little corner up ahead." 00:33–00:36 Stops beside laundry hanging between two poles, playfully ducks under a hanging shirt, laughing as it brushes her headband. "Almost took that home with me!" 00:36–00:39 Close-up insert: camera catches fabric of the hanging laundry swaying, sunlight passing through the weave, textures razor sharp against the soft grain of the footage. 00:39–00:42 Sits down on a low stone step outside a small home, adjusting her bag on her lap, glancing down the street. "Let's take a little break here." 00:42–00:45 Pulls a small drink from her bag, takes a casual sip, camera exposure shifting slightly in the changing light. "Perfect timing for this." 00:45–00:48 Stands back up, brushes off her jeans, and crouches slightly to show the graffiti art on her pant leg closer to the camera. "Look, I hand-painted this ghost myself." 00:48–00:50 Close-up insert: camera pushes into the denim graffiti art and distressed rips, thread detail and fabric fraying rendered in crisp 4K clarity beneath the vintage color grade. 00:50–00:53 Walks past the convenience store one more time, waves again at the shopkeeper, who waves back, camera shaking slightly from her footsteps. "See you around, sir!" 00:53–00:56 Stops at the end of the lane, framed by old walls and potted plants, reaches up and slides her sunglasses back down over her eyes with a small smile. "That's the vibe for today." 00:56–01:00 Waves warmly at the camera, laughing, adjusting her sunglasses one last time before the recording naturally cuts off. "Bye for now—see you next time!" Natural ambience only: light breeze, distant scooter engine, footsteps, fabric rustle, faint bird calls, shopkeeper's muffled voice. No background music, subtitles, logos, or watermarks. The footage should feel exactly like a genuine early-2000s handheld MiniDV vlog with authentic human movement and realistic interactions, rendered in crisp 4K detail beneath the vintage texture. #FlovaSeedance25Challenge

👁️👁️ Our eyes decide our metabolism, not our genes. Why? 🧐 Because the eye is the most important environmental organ. Through it, light timing determines which biochemical signals our body produces. ⚠️ Before we proceed to understand what ☣️ Pleb Kruse = BTC foundationalist in exile 🟩🔆 said in the video, let first understand what the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) is: “Supra” = above “Chiasmatic” = the optic chiasm (where optic nerves cross) “Nucleus” = like a control center made of neurons. Put together: 👉 is a small cluster of neurons located above the optic chiasm in the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus = a small area in the front of the brain that helps control things like: sleep, hunger, temperature, hormones… ⏰ The SCN is the master clock of our biology. And Mitochondrial survival depends on FOUR environmental surfaces: 👁️ Eyes 🧴 Skin 🦠 Gut lining 🫁 Lung surfaces These are the only interfaces where the external environment directly programs internal biology. Among them, the EYES dominate. Why? Because the eye is not a camera. It is a TIME-setting device. Inside the retina are melanopsin-containing retinal ganglion cells. These cells: Detect light wavelength Detect timing, not images They send signals directly to the SCN without: interpretation. emotion. thinking. Just environmental truth setting the clock that controls hormones, metabolism, immunity, and mitochondrial energy. This pathway is called the Central Retinal Pathway. It’s just raw environmental truth deciding what chemicals get released, and whether our biology repairs or degenerates. 🧬 Why the SCN sits BETWEEN leptin and the brain? This is the question most doctors never ask. Because Leptin is NOT a fat hormone 👀 ✅ is a TIMING hormone. It tells the brain: Is it day or night? Is it summer or winter? Is energy abundant or scarce? But leptin only works if the clock is correct. So Nature places the SCN between the eye (light input) and the hypothalamus (metabolic control) The SCN acts like a customs officer. It asks: Does this leptin signal match the light environment? YES 👍🏻 = leptin sensitivity NO 👎🏻 = leptin resistance ON vs OFF, timing is everything. The SCN controls: Cortisol (morning ON) Melatonin (night OFF) Insulin sensitivity Thyroid signaling Sex hormones Autophagy DNA repair… It flips the switch based on: Wavelength Intensity Timing 🌅 Morning sunlight (red, IR, blue) SCN = ON Cortisol rises Metabolism activates Mitochondria make clean energy 🌙 Night darkness (NO blue light) SCN = OFF Melatonin rises Repair + autophagy Immune surveillance ⚠️ Artificial blue light at night: False sunrise signal Night hormones shut down Repair stops Inflammation rises… 🚨This is not harmless. It’s catastrophic over time 🧨💥 It leads to disease, obesity, neurological degeneration, heart problems, and everything in between. 🏭 imagine this a factory : 👁️ Eyes = ⏰ time clock 🧠 SCN = 👷 factory manager 🧬 Leptin = 📋 inventory signal Mitochondria = ⚙️ machines If the time clock is wrong: Workers show up at the wrong time/night Machines run during maintenance Inventory signals are ignored The factory breaks down 🙌🏻 No amount of better food fixes a broken clock. ☠️ Modern life is lethal because: Indoor living Screens at night Sunglasses in the morning EMFs everywhere… Result: SCN never turns OFF Melatonin suppressed Leptin resistance Hunger increases Fat gain Immune failure Cancer risk rises… As Jack says: “Disease is a circadian mismatch.” 🔥 Why this matters for US? When the SCN is broken: Immune timing fails Inflammation stays high Healing slows Drugs work worse, with more side effects… That’s why environmental correction beats pharmacology long-term and food. Straight from Jack’s mouth: “The eye is the most important metabolic organ you own.” “You don’t fix mitochondria with food, you fix them with TIME.” And that is why our eyes determine the fate of our biology, long before genes ever do. So you think you’ve seen Texas? No, you haven’t. Texas isn’t just big—it’s wildly, outrageously diverse, from scorched Panhandle red rock to misty East Texas swamps, Hill Country granite domes to crystal-clear Hill Country rivers. This isn’t postcard pretty; it’s raw, humbling, and impossible to forget. First up: Palo Duro Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the U.S., carved deep into the High Plains near Amarillo. Crimson and ochre walls plunge hundreds of feet, striped by millions of years of wind and water. Hike the Lighthouse Trail at dawn or sunset when the light ignites the rock like fire—wildflowers in spring, golden grass in fall, and a vast silence that reminds you nature doesn’t need an audience to be epic. Then Chalk Bluff Park along the Frio River in the Hill Country near Uvalde. Turquoise water so transparent you see every pebble and darting fish below towering white limestone bluffs. Jump in for a swim, tube the gentle current, or camp riverside under live oaks. It’s the spot where Texas trades desert drama for cool, refreshing escape—perfect for kayaking, cliff-jumping, or just floating away from everything. Next, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in the heart of the Hill Country. A colossal dome of pink granite rises 425 feet above the rolling landscape like a prehistoric monolith dropped from the sky. Hike the steep Summit Trail for 360-degree views that stretch forever—sunrise turns the rock glowing rose, sunset paints it gold. Legends whisper of Comanche spirits and strange lights; whether alien or ancient, the place feels otherworldly. Stargaze here at night; the dark skies are unreal. Finally, Caddo Lake, Texas’s only natural lake, up in the Piney Woods near Uncertain. A labyrinth of blackwater bayous tangled with bald cypress trees draped in ghostly Spanish moss. Paddle a kayak or join a guided boat tour at sunrise when fog rolls low, turning the scene into a living fairy tale—herons stalk silently, alligators glide below, egrets flash white against green. It’s moody, mysterious, and serene; the kind of beauty that makes you whisper. Texas isn’t just big—it’s unapologetically beautiful. If you haven’t seen these yet, start packing. Which one are you hitting first? Drop it below… but careful—you might never want to leave.

Bitch, I do not play about eighth grade star aka opinions based girl….. yeah everybody’s laughing now, but it literally does not take away the fact that you are so fucking ugly like I had his ass blocked on my old account before I even saw this because every time he pops up on my for you page I just have to scroll because he’s so fucking ugly that it pisses me off he looks like he could be casted on Netflix and not in a good way. He seriously needs to find a new haircut because what the fuck is that middle part? and of course he’s a Nepo baby, and the best part is I just found out that he used to be fat, I bet he’s an anorexic asf lowkey all shade and that’s the only way his pathetic ass could lose weight and I know he didn’t use laxatives cause he’s definitely a bottom, the type that one bitch from White Lotus would say as a fem and NOT a butch. You can tell he wants to be Matthew from big mouth but he’s more of a Charlie from heartstopper, you can also tell that he’s never got his ass beat, well maybe once in middle school and then his white ass republican parents freaked the fuck out and got the kid suspended or some shit. Of course he’s obsessed with Diet Coke, he’s so obviously wants to be a white woman that it is embarrassing. Middle schoolers definitely go up to him and be like “oh my God you’re famous on TikTok” and he thinks he’s the shit but the rest of the population don’t give a fuck and the way his mom is a teacher…… I know that she probably yells at the fucking class for everything but really she’s just taking it out on these kids because she knows deep down that she wishes her son was like them instead of a fucking loser who makes strawberry bagels on TikTok not to mention everybody praised him for doing angel tree, bitch that’s nothing he probably just used some of his allowance money to look like a good person so y’all bitches would suck his dick. Omg in all of his fucking videos he tries to sound cute with that feminine ass voice and it gives me a secondhand embarrassment down. he thinks he’s Troye Sivan, but he will never admit that he probably listens to fucking country music and Taylor Swift so he can fit in with all of his Christian girl friends and that’s it. You can tell he peaked in high school. He was definitely the “token gay” and the homophobic straight boys loved him because he was “funny“ but it was all surface level, TikTok humor that seems funny to them. of course he reposted something about drinking on antidepressants. Just because you had a white claw and some lexapro(which explains why he used to be fat as fuck) doesn’t make you whatever a fucking vibe you’re trying to go for. He looks like he jerks off to the Lululemon maternity catalog while pretending he’s Harry Styles. I saw on TikTok that he has a girlfriend and I can’t tell if it’s just for attention or if he’s actually still dl so that his parents don’t freak the fuck out on him and he has to get a real job. This one girl posted him on TikTok, shaking his hips and drinking wine…… like who do you think you fucking are bro? like genuinely who the fuck do you think you are?🔑 he also reposted a TikTok about Lorde “looking a mess” I really don’t give a fuck if it was a joke. You have no place to be talking about somebody’s looks when he looks like that……. and y’all know what I mean, the type of guy who fucks all the dl in the room because he has zero confidence. The type of guy who has all the latest Apple products for no reason. I mean seriously he looks like he eats fucking rocks. Apparently he caused a lot of drama on TikTok (of course) and blamed his OCD like what kind of dumb ass excuse is that but then again he probably asked his mom what to say and then she sent him a script and he went with it. Somebody keeps on copying his videos and it’s pissing him off. I think it’s so hilarious…… you realize you’re just another copy and paste of every other wanna be “ influencer”. Don’t ever try coming for eighth grade start again.🔑🔑

We did it. Anthony Gustin and I just built the protein bar the industry didn’t want you to have: one actually made for HUMANS. Lineage Provisions Protein Bar – 100% real food, no garbage. Why most bars suck (and aren’t for humans): - Fake fats like EPG (esterified propoxylated glycerol) → causes “oily spotting” / anal leakage / discharge (yes, really) - Artificial sweeteners, preservatives, mystery isolates - Even “clean” ones load up on ultra-processed fiber syrups (tapioca, inulin, chicory root) that ferment in your gut, cause bloating, gas, inflammation. We said enough. We wanted a bar you could literally make at home with real pantry staples – but better: high protein, tastes amazing, verified insanely clean. Introducing the Lineage Protein Bar: 🐮 20g protein from grass-fed whey + collagen 🐄 Grass-fed beef tallow (real fat, not fake) 🍯 Raw organic honey 🥥 Organic coconut nectar 🫐 Organic freeze-dried berries & fruit 🧂 Salt THAT’S LITERALLY IT. No gums, no isolates, no seed oils, no fake anything. We didn’t half-ass this: - Every single ingredient + every batch tested for 400+ contaminants (microplastics, pesticides/herbicides, mycotoxins, heavy metals) - 2 full years of R&D to nail the taste, texture, and mouthfeel (it’s legitimately incredible – not “good for healthy,” actually craveable) Mixed Berry and Chocolate are live now. More flavors in pipeline – comment your requests below! 👇 Grab yours: 💪

War of the Walgreens: A San Francisco Documentary Caught in the crossfire, Asian Americans Grocery Store Employees attacked by violent drugged out thieves as Democrat leaders virtue signal instead of act. Darren Stallcup, World Peace Movement From 2019 to 2025, I spent years both fighting back recording what was happening in San Francisco at our local grocery stores, especially Walgreens. Documenting all the chaos and lawlessness I was witnessing firsthand on X because all the other media platforms wouldn't let me share my videos because the videos of my every day life violated community guidelines on their platforms but my real world community guidelines were being violated. X allowed me to share my story with the world. And now that same story might help an innocent Asian American man fighting for his freedom in a corrupt far left judicial system that forces tax paying law abiding citizens with no criminal record to do hard time while at the same time letting violent criminals out of jail the next day. Guang Hong, is a 44yo Asian American Walgreens employee in San Francisco and On March 19, 2025, Hong allegedly "stabbed" a violent drug addict thief, 30yo Larry Whitlock, in the eye during a power struggle in the Castro District, a predominantly gay neighborhood in San Francisco's outer downtown area. The incident began when a deranged Whitlock was seen fleeing the Walgreens at 498 Castro Way with stolen goods, democrats like to call it "unpaid merchandise" and other countries like those hands. Around 4:15 AM, A chaotic altercation eventually spilled out onto the street which lead to power struggle between Hong and the thief. Hong was then forced to resort to the only means of self defense at his disposal: his keys, and he then alleged stabbed Whitlock in the eye. Hong was arrested and booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, while Whitlock was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. This is the thousandth instance of such a situation. Be very clear America, this has occurred thousands of times in San Francisco. I believe this Asian American man to not only be fighting for his life, but also our San Francisco Community and America The Great. I have been filming the realities of California streets since 2019. My documentation of the mass theft happening at Walgreens is unparalleled. I saw countless criminals, drug addicts and homeless people storming in, stealing whatever they could and leaving chaos behind. They use being a "victim" as a tool to exploit the lenient laws of our sanctuary city. The entitlement is ridiculous. This is not just a one time thing, it happened over and over again, like a never ending problem that no one could stop. And it didn't stop. All the Walgreens are closing down. This was one of the last few remaining Walgreens. After working at the Walgreens for years, enduring long days of hard work in San Francisco's very difficult and hostile business environment. You bet our Asian American Brother was ready to die on that hill. An Asian American Walgreens employee in San Francisco had enough. A thief came in, probably thinking it would be another easy grab, but this time, the employee fought back. He stabbed the thief in the head with his keys. Can you believe it? That story exploded across the news, spreading all over the country like a wildfire. Everyone was talking about it. But there’s so much more to this story that you probably didn’t hear about. I’m here to tell you the side of things that doesn’t always make it to the headlines, THE REAL RAW TRUTH about what’s been going on. I call it the "War of the Walgreens," because that’s what it felt like every day... a battle that just wouldn’t end. For years, I stood there every night, watching it all go down. I wasn’t just a bystander, though, one day I snapped after watching 50+ people ransack our local grocery store, and I turned into a vigilante. I couldn’t sit back and do nothing while these waves of thieves kept coming, one after another, like an army attacking our stores. Wave after wave. Hordes of thieves. I fought back however I could, trying to protect what was left. I hope this documentary shines a light on the darkness that’s been hiding in plain sight. This isn’t just about theft or crime, t’s about all of our grocery stores closing down because of mass theft and the people who have to deal with it every single day. Especially our Asian American brothers and sisters who work in these stores. They’ve been putting up with this craziness for years, abuse, disrespect and danger, all while just trying to do their jobs. I want you to see what they’ve been through because the world needs to know the truth about what is really happening in downtown San Francisco.

Tales of Cities | Tongren, where China's matcha capital hides in plain sight Most people who drink matcha assume it is Japanese. In Tongren, a mountain city tucked into southwest China's Guizhou Province, that assumption meets a quiet correction. The tea tradition long associated with Japan can be traced back further to China's Tang and Song dynasties (618-1279). During the Song Dynasty, a method called diancha, whisking powdered tea into hot water until it turns pale and frothy, was already widespread among monks and scholars. Gu Lijun, a county-level inheritor of that Song Dynasty tradition, traces the practice back even earlier still, to the Wei and Jin dynasties (220-420). The technique now associated with Japanese tea ceremony, in other words, started in China, centuries before it ever crossed the sea. Tongren is now working to reclaim that origin story with production rather than just history. The city wears the title "China's matcha capital" for good reason, ranking first nationally and second worldwide in matcha production and sales. That scale is easy to state as a statistic and harder to picture, until you trace the leaf back to the mountain that makes it possible. Mount Fanjing rises more than 2,500 meters above the surrounding tea country, its ancient rock formations emerging from clouds that never quite leave, wrapped in mist and rain for more than 200 days a year, long enough that locals treat a clear day at the summit as luck rather than expectation. It is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, home to plant and animal species found nowhere else on Earth, and the climb to its Red Cloud Golden Summit is demanding by design, steep enough in places to require hands as well as feet. It is a mountain that guards its own secrets. Almost everything grown in its shadow carries that same difficulty, and benefits from it. At the Qizimei Tea Garden in Jiangkou county, plantation head Chen Chunlian tends 220 mu (about 14.67 hectares) of Fuding Dabai, Wuniuzao and Longjing tea, all destined to become tencha, the ground raw material for matcha, with Mount Fanjing visible from the rows themselves. Walk the plantation's lower slopes and the rows of low, dense bushes stretch across the hillside in every direction, broken only by mist rolling down from above, tended by farmers who speak of the mountain with a quiet, matter-of-fact devotion, as though caring for something this rare were simply what one does here. Chen explains that the mountain's high altitude, limited sunlight and near-constant cloud cover raise the amino acid content of the leaves, improving quality well beyond what flatland tea can achieve. Farmers add a further layer of engineering before harvest, covering the plants to block out even more light. Less sunlight means more chlorophyll and more theanine, the compound chemistry behind both matcha's saturated green color and its umami depth. The effect has a name in the trade: "covered aroma." Gu describes the resulting flavor in more familiar terms, bright and fresh, carrying what tea drinkers usually just call "the aroma of seaweed." From there, the leaf still has a distance to travel before it becomes the powder found on shelves abroad. At Gui Tea Group's matcha workshop, production supervisor Li Tingbao oversees the fine processing stage: aroma enhancement, color sorting, grinding and screening, followed by air separation, a step that filters out stems before the refined tea drops into a material bin to await blending. Only after grinding does it finally become matcha in the form most people would recognize. Li reports that the workshop's output has grown quickly, from roughly 2,500 tonnes in 2025 to an expected 5,000 tonnes this year, doubling in a single season and underscoring how fast global demand has moved. What happens to that matcha afterward is where Tongren's ambitions become most visible, and most inventive, and it tracks a pattern playing out across the industry worldwide, where matcha has moved well past the teacup into bakery cases, dessert menus and skincare shelves. Tang Yunpeng, general manager of Guizhou Guigui Matcha Food Co., Ltd., leads a team developing matcha products well outside tradition: sun cakes with a flaky, crumbly crust wrapped around matcha filling, cheesecakes, chocolates. Tongren's matcha, Tang notes, carries a stronger bitterness and fuller flavor than matcha grown elsewhere, a distinction that comes through clearly once it is baked, whisked or melted into something else. Elsewhere in the city, matcha turns up in dumplings, noodles, beer, chapstick, hand lotion and perfume. At this point, matcha in Tongren is less an ingredient than a category of its own. At a local nongjiale, a uniquely Chinese agritainment venue operated by local farmers that doubles as a restaurant and a window into local life, located in Yunshe village of Taiping town in Tongren's Jiangkou county, villager Yang Yanfei's table typically arrives loaded with Larou, the salt-cured smoked pork that anchors Guizhou home cooking, alongside a dish that still catches newcomers off guard: matcha sturgeon, the tea's flavor threaded lightly through the fish rather than layered over it. It is not a novelty so much as evidence of how completely matcha has settled into daily life here, alongside the area's clean air and unspoiled mountains and water, which Yang credits as the real foundation beneath all of it. For the people who make Tongren's matcha economy run, from tea garden to processing floor to test kitchen, the ambitions are collective, and they add up to something larger than any single product. Chen speaks of the quiet pride in supplying the raw material that starts the entire chain. Tang hopes matcha becomes something bigger still: a calling card not just for Tongren, but for Guizhou and for China as a whole. As matcha continues its rise in cafes and kitchens far beyond Guizhou, Tongren's name is beginning to travel with it.
