Day 3 of supporting Nairobi flood victims. The Sonko Rescue Team continues to work around the clock to assist affected families by facilitating the release of bodies from mortuaries and providing some financial support for burial expenses. We are still receiving and verifying cases at our offices to ensure that every family can give their loved ones a dignified send-off.Once we conclude handling the Nairobi cases, we shall extend our helping hand to other parts of the country to support families affected by floods who are facing similar challenges. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all the families affected during this difficult time. 🙏

It has been a long and emotional day. Since 5:00 AM, our team has been moving across various morgues with families of those who lost their lives in the Nairobi floods. So far, we have assisted in laying 10 victims to rest. Our mission remains clear — to ensure every victim receives a dignified send-off. May the Lord grant the affected families strength during this painful time.

One year ago, devastating floods in Texas took precious young lives, including an Alabamian, Sarah Marsh. Today, we continue to pray for the families who lost loved ones, the Camp Mystic community, and all those still carrying the weight of that heartbreaking day.

Visited traders affected by fire incidents at Toi Market and later at Umoja 2. Poleni sana to all affected and condolences to the bereaved. Sadly, we lost 4 souls in the Toi inferno. We will support their families during this trying time. For the traders, we will rebuild and help you get back to your feet. Thanks to the first responders and all who tried to help salvage the situation. We had a total of 7 fires across the city last night, and all affected will get support. For those who caused incitement, it is well, nothing will stop us from supporting our people.

This is a tragic night for Los Angeles. My thoughts are with those impacted by the bus collision and the helicopter crash, and with the entire NBC4 family who lost members of their team while they were doing their jobs. I’m deeply grateful to our firefighters, paramedics, and police officers who responded immediately to two incredibly difficult scenes to save lives and render aid. The NTSB will be leading the investigation. Right now, our focus is on the victims, their families and loved ones, and supporting everyone impacted by these tragedies.

Today, I visited flood stricken areas in the Mpumalanga. Over 1500 households are recorded as affected by the disaster. Schools in the affected areas of Nkomazi and Bushbuckridge have been suspended. The government will be focusing on the repair and rehabilitation of damaged houses and infrastructure as well as assisting families and households affected by the disaster. Our thoughts and prayers go to all the families who have lost their loved ones.
