The death of midwife Janell Green Smith following complications from giving birth has renewed difficult questions surrounding inequities in Black maternal health care. Black women are still three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women. "Black women are at higher rates of cesarean section, at higher rates of preeclampsia. They have higher rates of almost every possible comorbidity or complication that an individual can have," Jessica Brumley, president of the American College of Nurse Midwives, told PBS News’ Stephanie Sy. Brumley said that designing a system that helps Black women have better outcomes will ultimately help everyone else. "Even though Black women have some of the worst outcomes in the U.S., the U.S. has some of the worst maternal health outcomes in the world," Brumley said. "No one should have to fear for their life in order to grow their family."

After 20 years since I received approval for Abraxane in pancreatic cancer, finally there is a randomized trial showing that the combination of Abraxane + Gemcitabine results in significantly longer overall survival in pancreatic cancer when compared to the toxic combination of mFOLFIRINOX. Validation at last. Abraxane generates killer macrophages. Video we produced in the 2000's showing the mechanism of action of Abraxane (nab-paclitaxel)
