I share with the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States the ongoing massacre in Awdal Region by the Isaac family militias calling themselves Somaliland. Yesterday we learned about the events that took place in the SSC 2023 regions by the Isaac family militias calling themselves Somaliland. Today, the SSC regions have become the Northeastern Regional State of Somalia, a member state of the federal government of Somalia, after a brutal massacre by the RRU forces trained by the British government. Therefore, today, the Isaac family administration led by Cabdiraxmaan Cirro has begun a massacre and destruction of property in Borame, the capital of Awdal region. The people of Awdal and Selel are being massacred so that they cannot achieve their desire for their region to be part of a regional administration under the federal government of Somalia. The people being killed are being used as weapons and ammunition in regions that reject the idea of secession. The money that is being spent on killing people from Awdal is donations given to the Isaac family who call themselves Somaliland and they use the donations to buy weapons and ammunition to oppress the people of northern Somalia. Since 1991, the separatist authorities have relied on force to impose their control. They waged war against Awdal and subdued the region militarily despite its population’s clear rejection of secession. The same pattern played out in Las Anod, which endured years of conflict and repression. After sustained resistance, the local population expelled the separatist forces entirely. Today, the area exists as a federal state recognized as the Northeastern State, reflecting the will of its people rather than separatist rule. This record makes it clear that Somaliland’s image as a democratic and peaceful entity is a carefully constructed narrative that ignores repression, armed coercion, and the silencing of dissenting regions that reject the division of Somalia.
