I read a 💔 story today about the creator of Strawberry Shortcake/the Care Bears, Muriel Juneberry Fahrion, who gets 0 royalties from the endless products made from her IP, all bc in the 70s she was work for hire 🥺 She lives on Social Security and her independent online store.

I was literally crying mad over this, this government is threatening the lives of people just like her! The people who will most be impacted from cutting Medicaid and SSA are elderly women who worked their whole lives for less pay only to get >$600/month without Medicaid.

It’s so humiliating how many incredibly talented and amazing people are out there scraping by instead of living in comfort and with the knowledge that They and their work are beloved, both. Sexism, Ageism, and Ableism is why stories like hers aren’t heard more often.

I feel humiliated, I don’t believe her life is humiliating, I believe that I’ve been tricked into giving tons of money to corporations and helping to rob this poor lady. Capitalism makes me feel more and more ashamed every day. I’m glad this is taking off, please send her🫶🏽
