On the afternoon of January 28, off the island of San Pietro, the 116m vessel Blue Ocean, sailing toward Spain with 33 crew members on board sent a distress call for an engine failure that prevented it from maneuvering. Winds of over 50 knots and waves up to 5 meters high pushed the vessel toward the coast, making the operation particularly complex. The rescue was coordinated by the Cagliari Coast Guard, which employed naval aircraft from the Port Authorities and an Italian Air Force helicopter. The vessel was then secured with the help of local tugboats. (Guardiacostiera)
