I played in the 80s. Straddle was the method. I’d never teach that now. In front and swipe is the way. No kid can adjust after running to the base

Understanding the value of velo… If a P can throw 95mph from a set position, a slide step and short arm action, then a catcher can probably get pretty close to maximizing his velocity from behind the plate as well if we can understand where those things come from.
