As he drops, he slides to his right with too many small steps, which causes him to be late to Jeudy. Volpe gets absolutely nothing on his throws because of his mechanics. Upper half opens up early, and he ends up guiding the ball to first on the throw because he has no power left by the time he’s releasing the ball. This along with his hesitancy to attack grounders basically gives the runner a few more steps to first than he should have by the time the ball is released.

I will never understand this in soccer. In the time he was rolling on the ground the ball went all the way across the field to the other team's goalie, who then put it in play for England to make a run back at their goal.
