The government can’t put a pistol to my head and force me to get Aadhaar.” — Jairam Ramesh in 2017, vehemently opposing Aadhaar. This is the same man who once cited three Supreme Court verdicts to oppose even the voluntary linking of Aadhaar. Today, he wants the Election Commission to accept Aadhaar as valid proof for voter verification. 🤡 Of course, Jairam Ramesh is irrelevant to the current discourse. But the real question is: how can anyone trust the Congress on critical issues of national integrity and electoral reform, when their positions flip-flop within months? Their stance isn’t rooted in principle — it’s driven purely by politics.

1474 DELETED voters were scrutinised by The Tribunal for the Phase 2 that goes to polling on April 29. Out of which 1468 have been cleared by the Tribunal and restored to the voter list. Thats a staggering 99.6%. That means nearly every person in that sample flagged and deleted under SIR Logical Discrepancy by #ElectionCommission was found to be a genuine voter. In effect, 99.6% of these deletions did not stand scrutiny. In effect, 99.6% times #ElectionCommissionOfIndia was wrong Yet, as #India watches #BengalElection2026, far too little attention is being paid to the deeper injustice: citizens removed from the rolls despite possessing valid documents, only to be forced into a legal battle to reclaim a basic democratic right. Meet Sanuyar Chitrakar. He is a #Muslim, has a passport, PAN, bank account, a house in his name - every valid document needed to establish identity. He has even brought pride to India abroad through his Patachitra art, earning recognition in foreign countries. Every document, every honour, identifies him as #Indian and reads his name as SANUYAR. Yet he was deleted from Bengal’s voter list. He couldn’t vote in Phase 1. The reason? In his Aadhaar card, a minor spelling error changed the “y” in Sanuyar to “w,” making it read Sanuwar. That single discrepancy was enough to override his passport, PAN, property papers, bank records, and a lifetime of recognised identity. The irony is brutal. Aadhaar was initially not accepted by the Election Commission for verification, and only after Supreme Court intervention was it allowed merely as proof of identity. But now, the same Aadhaar discrepancy has been used to erase a voter. So Aadhaar was not enough to protect people’s names on the rolls but enough to delete someone. SIR is simply a routine exercise to clean up the voter list. The TMC has been relying on dead and duplicate voters to hold on to power. In Swarupnagar, many Bangladeshi nationals who illegally entered India are now fleeing. TMC has already begun its post-SIR manipulation plans because its political survival depends on defrauding the electorate. In several booths, the same individual holds multiple voter cards. SIR will put an end to all of this. It will clean up the voter list and restore integrity to the electoral process.
