Say what it is. US computer and tech grads are not hired because of massive low wage H1-B hiring from shit hole countries like India. One example is Microsoft, now to all intents and purposes an Indian company - including already moving much of its corporate infrastructure to India. Also directly funding Indian university programs for more Indian workers.

How is it that a philosophy degree isn’t on that list? I mean, when was the last time you heard someone say, "Alright, time to head to the philosophy factory" on their way to work?

In physics, of those who don't go on to doctorates and those that don't teach, half become engineers and half become programmers. Basically anything you can get a job at you will be paid well for and you will succeed.

Math is not merely arithmetic, physicists and math guys are useful even in running llms because both are good at algorithm design. Llms are basic. As soon as we’re past Asian software we’ll be doing high quality software again.

If your heart is truly calling you to one of those studies, go for it. The trick to making a good income with it is to research and think very innovatively on creating a smart niche for yourself in that field via rigor and course correction. Many have done this successfully.
