In The Phantom of the Opera (1925), Lon Chaney’s unmasking was so shocking that some audiences fainted. Universal Studios strictly banned any photos of Lon Chaney's unmasked face from being leaked before the movie came out. This scene had spent the entire film building anticipation around what was hidden beneath the mask, only for Christine to tear it away and reveal Lon Chaney’s unsettling makeup. Audiences in the dark theater had absolutely no idea what was coming. People in 1925 had never seen a human face manipulated to look like a living skull. The raw, practical makeup was completely new and deeply disturbing. The movie came out just a few years after World War I. Many people were already deeply sensitive to severe facial injuries, making the skull-like imagery even harder to look at.

Attempt to get to Canada, part 2. After more than 13 hours stuck in Edinburgh airport and a plane that was clearly unfit to fly, we are waiting to take off for Montreal. Yesterday was like a comedy of errors. Why did Air Canada put us anywhere near that plane? In over 20 years of flying, I’ve rarely been more concerned about taking off in a plane. Worst of all, was the lack of info for passengers, many of whom had had the same flight cancelled the day before. No water offered in the plane for well over an hour -despite the searing temperatures. Numerous elderly folk were suffering in the heat. Several passengers were still waiting for their luggage past 9pm last night. Nobody had a clue what was going on. Many people had had no food since before 0900. Absolute shambles. Hope the Tartan Army lads make it to Miami ok!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yaxel Lendeborg says acting was his intended college major and he’s hoping to find acting gigs in San Francisco: “I acted in a play in high school. The play was Elf. I was gonna go to college for acting, for theater and stuff like that. So when I actually got to college, that was my major. Kind of switched plans a little bit because of the basketball thing, but I would love to be an actor. Be in a musical if I need to. When I’m in San Francisco, hopefully I can find some little gig to get on, and hopefully somebody can put me in a movie.”
