It took more than three centuries to finish. Richard the Lionheart’s heart is buried inside. Monet painted the façade over thirty times because he couldn’t stop watching how the light changed it throughout the day. It got badly damaged in World War II but they restored it carefully, and it’s still one of the most impressive cathedrals in France.
