Law enforcement agencies say they are ready for Tuesday’s planned protests. The right to protest peacefully is protected by the Constitution and must be respected. However, there should be zero tolerance for criminality. Anyone who uses the protests as an excuse to loot, intimidate, destroy property, or incite violence must face the full might of the law. Peaceful protest is a constitutional right; lawlessness is not.

A direct question for President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto: If one of your own children joined a peaceful protest, would you want them shot dead? In 2024, police killed 104 Kenyans during protests. In 2025, that number rose to 125. Since June 2024, the Ruto regime has carried out 83 enforced disappearances and over 3,000 arbitrary arrests. Forty-one protest-linked Kenyans are still missing. So far in 2026, police have already shot dead 51 more protesters. Yet the President has done nothing to stop the bloodshed. Instead, his government offers compensation as the bodies continue to pile up. We reject this kill-and-pay culture. POLICE WARN AGAINST UNLAWFUL PROTESTS AHEAD OF INAUGURATION By Victoria Kayeye Yambani The Zambia Police Service has issued a strong warning against planned unlawful processions, assemblies and protests across the country, including during Tuesday’s presidential inauguration. Police Inspector General Graphel Musamba says the Service has received credible intelligence that certain groups and individuals are mobilising and inciting members of the public to participate in unlawful protests. He says police are also aware of efforts to mobilise people to protest against the detention of certain suspects currently in police custody. While acknowledging that Article 21 of the Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of assembly and association, Mr Musamba says the right must be exercised within the law and is subject to limitations necessary to maintain public safety and order and protect the rights and freedoms of others. The Police Chief says the Zambia Police Service has a constitutional and statutory responsibility to maintain law and order, protect life and property, and ensure public safety and security. He has warned that anyone who participates in, organises, facilitates or supports unlawful activities will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law. Members of the public have also been cautioned against being incited into violence, obstructing lawful activities or engaging in any conduct that amounts to a criminal offence. I have no clue who this guy is or what his political views are. Party aside he is telling the truth about a basic function and reality of American citizenship. These are the kind of people we need leading this country and our communities. Tough, real, experienced. They tell you exactly how it is, no sugar coating. I never say people don’t have a right to protest. I’ve lead peaceful protests and we emphasized the peaceful… we should be protesting in this country, the question is what, where and to whose end? I personally think conservatives should be in the streets everyday for any number of abominable breaches of their constitutional rights. (cough cough… taxes, secure elections). I defend everyones right to freedom of political expression and protest...left and right. However, when we are heading into 3 years of non-stop protests in our streets for foreign agendas, when do we say enough is enough? As it stands at the moment, Australian people wanting to express their discontent with the goings-on in Australia via protest are having to "work around" existing foreign protests. Yesterday, public transport and Australians were impacted in Melbourne yet again due to protests of a foreign nature. It's "little" things like this that we turn a blind eye to, that allow the destruction of our country to continue. If you aren't out there protesting about Australian affairs, go home! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.... Australia is for Australians, and Australian streets are for Australians. Keep your wars off our shores!
