I see a shitload of cat videos with a person in them and the cat doesn't get touched. I'm like, "Why do you even HAVE a cat if you're not gonna pet it?" Maybe there's 10% of all cats that PREFER to not be petted, but overwhelmingly, cats, if you asked them, would be petted all day if they could find a person to do it. When you pet a cat, you are blasting through the language barrier. You're telling the cat in a way that it understands that you like it and that it's important to you.
