Today I met a bright young man from my constituency whose mother proudly shared that he had passed for Calabar High. She brought him to me with a request, for a laptop to help him on his journey. I spoke with him about the importance of education and the responsibility he carries to honour his potential and care for his mother. I see promise in him, and I believe in what he can become with the right support. I will be providing him with a laptop to help him take the next step. Because when we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of Jamaica.

You’ll smile from ear to ear by the end…. Today was the best day in Billy’s life. We gave him a little groom and put on his favorite bandana before taking him for a walk and breaking the big news to him… Billy has a forever home With a lovely family in Singapore. 🇸🇬 It’s amazing that he is even here today… 🔪 He was badly beaten up and left to fend for himself 🧠 His beating was so bad he had brain damage 😖 Billy had severe PTSD (he didn’t stop crying for days on end) 👀 He was 90% blind when he came into us 📆 It’s taken us 4 months to fix him up and rehab him 🏥 He’s had 3 trips to the hospital 800km away 💵 His medical bills are over $3000 but someone kindly paid to have his eyesight restored. It’s very rare id watch a video over and over again but I’ve watch the big with him running in this one about 20 times now. This is a dog who couldn’t put 1 foot in front of the other until recently. Billy is an older boy but nobody deserves to head off to his retirement home to be spoilt more than him.

This man goes to his local fast food restaurant for breakfast. He tries to order but is immediately stopped by the worker, she claims she smells liquor on him and that he’s very intoxicated. He’s asked to leave, but then calls back and asks to speak to the manager. He goes back in to speak to the manager and explains that with his disability he takes medication for his severe anxiety for it, and that it can make him shake which can affect his speech. The manager makes the woman apologize to him but I don’t think that’s enough, should the woman who treated him so horribly and lied about him still be employed there?

A Ghanaian man who returned from the UK for a two-week work leave says he is not going back, as life in Ghana is far better than what he experienced in the UK. According to him, he was a contractor in Ghana and travelled to the UK in December 2023, hoping to secure a well-paying job and improve his living conditions, spending £14,000 on a visa. However, he says his expectations were quickly dashed. The cost of living, he explains, was so high that he couldn’t even save £200 a month. He admitted that life and work were far better in Ghana and says he has no intention of returning to the UK once his leave expires.

[🚨video] Joseph Abodurin from Osun state, made atleast 88 suicidal tweets since December. According to Abodurin, he is just 25, but he has seen enough as there is no future in sight. He was a Scholar of Material and Metallurgical Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Minna. Although, reports suggest he dropped out. The only thing that kept him alive, were his siblings who were highly optimistic about the future. But, after months of searching for the easiest and painless way to die, Abodurin seemingly had to settle for the ol noose. It’s almost 48hrs, he’s yet to tweet. Hinting, his thoughts have won, and he’s gone. Apparently, Joseph died due to social media pressure. A close acquaintance revealed he had ambitions, but as he clocked 25, he felt he had ran out of time, and with the way the society is built, he might never make it. They tried to convince him about life. But the longer he drew breathe, the more his world felt smaller. The final straw was when he realized he didn’t make it into Tony Elumelu’s foundation. He has a start up called Data Wall, which wasn’t selected at TEF 25. Abodurin wanted to be the next Elon Musk, but he found himself in Nigeria, which automatically handicapped his dreams. The unbelievable story of Maksim Herkin, which can now finally be told. Herkin had completed officers’ training just two months before he was taken captive. On that Saturday, he was on weekend leave. When he realized that terrorists had entered the Nova festival grounds, he got rid of his phone and military ID so they wouldn’t discover he was an IDF officer. Throughout his entire captivity, he managed to hide this information from his captors. He asked to share a few words with the people of Israel. In a video filmed recently he thanks everyone for fighting for him and saving him, says he loves the people of Israel very very much and shows without a shadow of doubt how much of a hero he himself is. He says he will finally meet his baby daughter for the first time in a few days and thanks also the government of Israel for securing the release of the hostages.

Today at Uhuru Park, I met this man sitting all by himself, deep in thought. I approached him and we talked. He shared that life has really been tough he has been searching for a job for a long time without success. Two months ago, his house was locked, and since then, he has been sleeping on the streets. I wanted to help him pay the two months’ rent, but all he asked for was transport money to go back home to the village, where he at least has a place to stay and regroup. I listened and supported him with the fare so he can go home, plan afresh, and hopefully return to Nairobi or anywhere once an opportunity opens up. He is a chef and ready to work. If anyone can offer him a job or support, please reach out to me since his phone was stolen: 0720836634( his number is recorded in the video if you have an opportunity for him.) Sometimes a small act of kindness can help someone restart life. Let’s continue looking out for each other.
