Empowering Citizens: Celebrating 10 Years of Maharashtra's Right to Public Services Act Addressed a program marking the decade of the implementation of the 'Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015' and the first 'Right to Services Day'. When the system fails to honour the rights of citizens, it's essential that these rights are safeguarded through legislation, empowering citizens to seek redressal. As CM in previous tenure, one of my first decisions was to introduce the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act during the first cabinet meeting. Today, over 1000 services have been notified under this Act, with 550 to 600 services already available online. We aim to bring another 300 services online soon, and 125 services are currently online but not yet accessible through the common portal. A deadline of August 15, 2025 has been set for full integration. A fine of ₹1,000 will be imposed on the concerned officer for each service per day beyond the defined delivery time. We are also upgrading our Government Portal to provide easier access to services. The vision behind this law is simple: ensuring that every citizen who seeks justice can get it where they need it. If justice is denied, we’ve built a system of appeal and penalty to ensure accountability. We’ve also signed MoU with Meta to bring governance to WhatsApp, simplifying access and improving the ease of living for the common man. To spread awareness and ensure the Right to Services is deeply ingrained in our society, we must incorporate it into school curriculum. Just like how Right to Information Act has empowered citizens, we strive to ensure that the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act similarly empowers them. The star power of Shankar Mahadevan and Sonali Kulkarni, the brand ambassadors, will help us reach every corner of the State, making governance more people-centric, transparent, and dynamic. Before harassing, abusing, and mentally pressurising your employees in the name of targets, you seriously need to fix yourselves first. All you people do is scream CASA..CASA all day long and dump impossible targets on ground-level staff. But have you ever bothered to look at your pathetic service standards? Customers struggle with unnecessary minimum balance issues just to open accounts. While public sector banks remain open for customers till 4 PM, ICICI Bank shuts its shutters by 3:30 PM. Cash deposits are refused after 2 PM and customers are pushed towards ATMs, and when those ATMs don’t work, the standard response is “come tomorrow.” Tell me one thing..if you don’t provide basic banking services, how exactly do you expect CASA to grow? By abusing employees? By threatening staff? My own experience with ICICI Bank has been consistently bad, and I know I’m not alone. Instead of unloading your frustration and incompetence on employees who are already overworked, fix your broken service model.
