If you don't catch a solo in a jam (inside the feel of the moment), you will lose the moment and the solo with it. Sometimes all you need is the first few notes and the solo writes itself. Here's an impromptu jam with no preconceived notions..

Was just listening to Lady Evil (the 'Live from Radio City' version) this morning and thinking how close to your original you kept that one. So many amazing solos throughout your career, but your solos from H&H and Mob Rules albums are *perfection* to me.

I need the rythm part in my head, then I play around unplugged till I find the first couple notes. From there the rest of the solo comes in parts that add on to the already existing part. If you understand what I mean.

My first or second takes have always been better to my ears than anything I tried too hard to perfect. Then again, I am not Tony Iommi, so I'll just go back to my slash and burn ways. Thank you.
