“The Trolley Song” performed by Judy Garland and Chorus in Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), directed by Vincente Minnelli. Its lyrics were written by Ralph Blane with composition from Hugh Martin and was nominated for Best Original Song at the 1945 Academy Awards but lost to “Swinging on a Star” from Going My Way. Meet Me in St. Louis became the second-highest-grossing film of the year, behind only Going My Way and was also MGM's most successful musical of the 1940s.
