For over half a century, the Endangered Species Act has protected our plants and wildlife from permanent extinction on planet Earth. This includes the bald eagle and the whooping cranes that have long called New Mexico home. We’re now two days from Congress recessing for the holiday, and the...

It’s Earth Day. Yet, the Republicans are using the House to try to gut the fundamental programs that protect our planet: the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the Clean Air Act. But we won’t back down! That’s why we’re fighting like hell for our lands, our waters, and our wildlife. And we won’t walk away from that legacy!

Clean air is NOT up for debate—because it’s a human right. For over a half century, the Clean Air Act has protected our communities and our planet. But once again, the GOP is trying to gut this critical act—as a war is raging on the Middle East and there is a madman in the White House. Not on my watch. I will be voting a hell NO.

In New Mexico we know water is life and our lands are sacred. Our New Year’s countdown continues today with some of our biggest accomplishments in the fight to protect our lands, waters, wildlife, and special places—with a special cameo from some local wildlife!

For more than 50 years, the Endangered Species Act has been clear in its intent to halt and reverse the trend toward species extinction, whatever the cost. With 21 AGs, we’re standing up to defend it and protect the hundreds of animals, plants, and habitats that share this planet with us. Today and for generations to come.

Yesterday the US Supreme Court gutted the Clean Water Act. The new rule excludes ephemeral waters, many springs and wetlands. For AZ & the Southwest this means a 90-95% reduction in protections for waters and the people and wildlife that rely on them. 🤬

The Trump regime is continuing to destroy our protected lands and endangered wildlife habitats. The damage they are causing will be irreversible and scar the land forever; you can't bring back extinct species. #DemsUnited

For my 30 years in public life, I’ve always fought for the environment and I’m not stopping now. I’m committed to ensuring our drinking water is clean, the Long Island Sound — our National Park — is protected, and the air we breathe is free from pollution.

ICYMI: The GOP is trying to pass Permitting Reform legislation that would gut protections for Tribes and communities to oppose strip mining and oil and gas drilling on sacred and public lands. Now they’re using Oak Flat—the sacred lands of multiple Apache Tribal Nations—as the example??? Oh HELL NO! These lands have been protected by Tribal treaty rights since the 19th Century, and now they’re trying to “level the playing field” for foreign mining companies. How is this America First? We are not here to play.

How ironic is it that the GOP was considering a bill to protect and expand Big Bend National Park last week, at the same time they are refusing to check the President from building a border wall right through the middle of it? This isn’t about safety or national security—it’s destruction without a plan, like his other projects. No respect for the law, no respect for Tribal sovereignty or our communities, and no respect for the wildlife and ecosystems that live there. Hell no! We're fighting to protect our public lands and communities!

Hunger is a policy choice. As a food and hunger crisis is being manufactured by the White House—New Mexico is stepping up to ensure our families are fed. From our SNAP Back Act in the House, to the Senate, to our Governor & State Legislature, to our Attorney General and food banks, we are working on all fronts to make sure New Mexicans can put food on the table. Because—in New Mexico, we take care of each other—and that’s exactly what we’re doing!

Environmental Groups are now suing the Trump Administration for turning the water back on in California These environmental groups want to cut the water off to farmers to ‘protect fish’ “Several environmental groups, including San Francisco Baykeeper and the Center for Biological Diversity are now suing claiming the action five diversions violate the Endangered Species Act, and will harm fish populations” It’s really about controlling our food supply and only letting a few monopolies control everything

I’m proud to have authored the Protect Children’s Innocence Act and the Gulf of America Act. Now, President Trump is putting the spotlight on the bills I’m doing in Congress! We must stand up and protect our children. It’s time for my legislation to hit the House floor for a vote. Our children deserve better. Pass the bill!

“I am not happy.” The EPA has been cutting positions and rolling back environmental protections. The Long Island Sound is our national park. We need to act like it!

A person named Sunil Pahari from Chamoli, Uttarakhand allegedly killed a snake just to make a reel for views. This is not content this is a punishable offence under the Wildlife Protection Act. I urge the Uttarakhand government to take immediate action and ensure strict consequences. Wildlife is not for entertainment.

The Mental Health Act is out of date. We’re calling for a reformed Mental Health Act that supports people. And we need to see that within the first 100 days of a new government. We’ve waited far too long. The time to act is now.
