I have the same kind of feeling about it too. 2023 was okay with photorealistic images, but video was really, really rough. Now we have Seedance-level models that can run on a PC. It's exciting to think about how much more things will change in 3 years.

People that don't want to see will blind themselves to reality. It is what it is. Nothing will change their mind. These are people that will look at an AI image created 4 years ago and one created now and say they are the same. That's why they qualify all AI as slop. Quality doesn't matter to them. Only the process of how it was created.

So much has changed, I remember using Dall-e all the way back in 2023 and the images didn't look remotely anything as you would tell it to be, it was like seeing smudges or silhouettes but now we can get super detailed images.

This song meant nothing in 2077, then Edgerunners dropped and now it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

I have always said that AI is merely a tool. Artists who put in the effort to master it will make incredible things. Low effort folks that don't care will continue to churn out low effort results.

I honestly had a lot of fun with early AI messing up.

I estimate about 2 years until AI becomes unrecognizable from the real deal. There will be room for improvement, more styles, and maybe tools for adding more direction as time goes by, but soon AI will reach a point that it will have a "soul" and no one will be able to tell apart
