FIRST VISUALS of Captain Smit Machchhar outside the plane! The 39-year-old father of two is seen with his chest and abdomen heavily bandaged after being stabbed by the co-pilot. He suffered massive blood loss, with his blood pressure plummeting and briefly lost consciousness. Doctors initially feared he may not survive. Now stable and recovering in a Tabuk hospital, Captain Smit still managed to help bring nearly 180 passengers safely to the ground despite his severe injuries. A remarkable act of courage that nearly cost him his life.

Captain Smit Machchhar was stabbed mid-air by his own co-pilot. He still forced the cockpit door open. 174 people landed safely in Saudi Arabia because of those few seconds of a man who didn't panic while bleeding. Proud of him. Proud to be Indian.

Thoughts and prayers tonight for Captain Smit Machchhar who is clearly extraordinary. Here are 3 things he did that should give us pause & make us stand up in deep admiration 1. He bravely fought a man who seemed to want to bludgeon him to death, a man he should have been able to trust most on the flight- his co-pilot 2. He was agile in relaying the emergency & hijack sqauwk codes leading to Israel deploying air force jets 3. He showed an amazing strength of mind in managing to open the cockpit door even as he- according to passenger testimonies- lay bleeding on the ground with the assailant on top of him. This enabled three other heroic passengers to enter and overpower the violent co-pilot. 4. Some testimonies suggest it's Capt Smit who also recovered the plane, while eventually the British passenger-pilot landed it. All the accolades he is getting are too few. If the reports about him being considered for an Ashoka Chakra are true, every Indian would wholeheartedly rally behind that and more We often fly as passengers with no regards for the risks taken by the men and women in the cockpit. With experts estimating that the plane was between 30-60 seconds to crash- pause to consider- had Smit not opened the cockpit door when he did, even while gravely injured, this would have ended in mass deaths and major catastrophe. Salutations Sir.

🇮🇳🇦🇪 The Flydubai captain has spoken for the first time, saying he kept going because he "couldn't let everybody else die." Smit Machchhar told Indian PM Modi on a video call today that he was so badly wounded he'd collapsed on the cockpit floor, wondering whether he'd ever get back up. With the plane going down and the copilot still beating him, he pushed himself to the cockpit door and opened it, letting passengers rush in to restrain the attacker and help get the Tel Aviv-bound flight back under control. Bleeding on the floor of a falling plane, his last thought was everyone sitting behind that door, and that's the stuff real heroes are made of. Source: CNN / Writer: Julie

🔥🚨 BREAKING — Hero Pilot IDENTIFIED as Indian National Smit Machchhar. After being STABBED, he OPENED the cockpit door so passengers could assist. After the Omani MUSLIM co-pilot put a knife in him, he was on the floor, bleeding, and he still clicked the cockpit open so the crew and passengers could get in and stop a crash. That is why 174 people are hugging families in Israel instead of being a crater. God bless this man. Pray he pulls through. Treat the attacker like the terrorist Israel already named. Investigate.
