For the past 2 months, XBOW has been testing Mythos Preview under embargo as part of a select early-access group. Today, we can finally share what we found. The headline: Mythos Preview is a major advance. It is substantially better than prior models at finding vulnerability candidates, especially when...

#WATCH | California, USA: On Anthropic Mythos, CEO of Blackstraw AI, Atul Arya says, "...Anthropic has released a reasoning model called Mythos... Unlike standard AI, it explains the 'why' behind its answers. Its primary initial use case is cybersecurity... helping companies identify not just where vulnerabilities exist, but why they occur. Currently, Mythos provides its testing early version to 20 major firms like Microsoft and CrowdStrike... to both simulate and prevent attacks... it's in its early phase... this model is powerful... and will be very useful in future..." Speaking about its impact on the banking industry, he says, "It can be both a threat and helpful... If someone wants to do something wrong, they'll attack the bank... According to me, for the banking industry, it is not a matter of worry. But yes, it is definitely a matter of caution as to what can happen with this and early adoption means adopting it in advance and reaching a stage when it is used in general availability..." On India's banking system's preparations for Mythos, he says, "...What's happened in India is that a large generation has acquired banking access directly on mobile phones, having never seen anything else, including a laptop... Even if we provide this only to banking systems, they are only halfway to success... The remaining 50% depends on public education. In a nation where 60-70% of people live in rural areas, educating users not to click suspicious links or share credentials is critical..."

Emergency Podcast! Mythos Rising: Did Antropic Just Achieve AGI? Yes And No. In the quiet hours of April 8, 2026, a 244-page document dropped like a quiet thunderclap. Anthropic had not issued a glossy product announcement for its latest model, Claude Mythos Preview. Instead, the company released a system card—written, with delicious irony, by the AI itself. What it revealed was not hype. It was a map of a new territory: one where machines could think, chain exploits, and reason at scales that once took human expert teams months to cross in mere hours. The goalposts for “AGI” keep moving, as they always have. But Mythos Preview crossed a threshold that few saw coming so soon. Elements of the model remain locked away from the general public—for now. Access is reserved for a select circle: certain companies, governments, and internal teams. Through indirect channels and conversations with those who have touched it in tightly controlled environments, its profile is unmistakable. This is not a faster assistant. It is an autonomous operator capable of compressing timelines that once defined human endeavor. Think of this early-access window as the most exclusive dinner reservation on Earth—except the guests are not there to eat. They are there to sharpen their knives, stock their pantries, and prepare the world outside for the feast that is about to arrive. Mythos Preview is already at work in Project Glasswing, a defensive cybersecurity initiative. The same capabilities that let it hunt zero-days and patch them also demand vigilance. Anthropic admitted they built an AI so capable they were scared to release it and the number that explains why is 250. Anthropic's CFO Krishna Rao described in this clip what happened when they ran Mythos against an open source codebase that a previous frontier model had already analyzed. The prior model found 22 security vulnerabilities, Mythos found 250. In the same codebase, that the previous model had already reviewed and flagged as relatively clean. That number, more than 11 times as many vulnerabilities discovered is not just a benchmark improvement, it is a signal that there is an entire layer of software infrastructure that humanity has been operating under the assumption was secure and that assumption may no longer hold. The UK AI Security Institute independently evaluated Mythos Preview and confirmed what the internal numbers suggested. On expert level capture the flag challenges that no model could complete before April 2025, Mythos succeeded 73% of the time and it became the first model ever to complete a complex end-to-end attack range from start to finish, autonomously, without human guidance. The World Economic Forum called this a new security-driven era for AI, the Governor of the Bank of England publicly warned that Anthropic may have found a way to unlock the entire cyber-risk landscape, and the European Central Bank began quietly contacting financial institutions to assess their security posture. The response from Anthropic is what makes this story genuinely important. Rather than shelving the model or publishing it as a standard API release, Rao described a phased approach restricting access to a controlled group, focusing specifically on how the cyber capabilities can be used defensively rather than offensively and treating that framework as a template for how to release powerful but dangerous models in the future. The broader context makes that framing even more significant. AI generated code is already creating ten times more security vulnerabilities than human-written code, 63% of organizations reported experiencing an AI driven cyberattack in the past 12 months, and traditional signature-based security tools were built for a threat model that no longer describes the attack surface companies are defending against. Mythos represents a genuine leap in what autonomous security reasoning can do and it cuts both ways. The model that can find 250 vulnerabilities in a codebase a prior model rated as mostly clean is also, in the wrong hands, the model that can exploit those 250 vulnerabilities before a human defender has even finished reading the report. Anthropic's phased release strategy is not just a legal or PR decision, it is the most honest signal yet from a frontier lab that safety governance and capability development can no longer be treated as separate workstreams. The question is not whether this technology gets deployed, it is whether the institutions using it defensively stay ahead of the ones who will eventually use it offensively and whether the labs building it can keep those two timelines from inverting.

We are nine months into this chaos, and it already feels like we’ve lived a thousand lives. Every day is a new disaster, a new headline, a new weight dropped on our backs. Normally, nine months means life is being born — but under this man, it feels like something darker has been delivered into our lives. The kind of thing that doesn’t get better when it arrives. It just keeps multiplying, feeding on our exhaustion. But here’s the truth: overwhelm is the weapon. It’s not random. It’s intentional. He stacks crisis on crisis, hoping that we stop keeping count, hoping we stop caring, hoping that we turn numb. He wants us to believe that our outrage has an expiration date, that our energy has a limit, that our solidarity has a ceiling. But he’s wrong. We’ve lived through enough to know that humans adapt. Pressure doesn’t just break us — it forges us. Think about it: nine months of this, and yes, it’s insane, but we’re still here. Still talking. Still organizing. Still pushing back. That’s proof of life. Proof of resilience. Proof that no matter how many fires he lights, we refuse to be consumed. So we resist the overwhelm. We choose focus. We choose clarity. We protect our joy like it’s a shield, because it is. We protect each other like it’s the last defense, because it is. And every time we refuse to collapse into despair, every time we get back up and act, we prove that his chaos cannot control us. This is not the end. This is the test. And history has shown — every empire built on fear and exhaustion eventually falls. We are not powerless. We are the counterweight. We are the resistance. And we will not be buried under his noise.
