Could've just said "Then my wife started her own business". Simple. Effective. But nah, gotta let your own ego in the way bro.

Oh there is also "I allowed you to go out with friends". As if there was a document that I signed where I was always supposed to seek permission to breathe, live, stay happy, have an opinion and what not!

I loved how Farhan gave it back with "Thanks for proving my point" Not just he but even his mother is deeply misogynist & hate when his DIL is overachieving & outspoken Good thing she finally walked outta that crazy family 🤪 Loved this movie ❤️

An unpopular opinion: the biggest red flag in this movie was Priyanka's character. As a women, I realized it after quite sometime. Rahul Bose's character was flawed but so was Priyanka's. He was made to pay for it, but her glaring flaws were shoved conveniently under the carpet

People often misunderstand support and allow I think Like if he had said like ki meri family me kisi aurat ne kaam nhi kra but mene apni wife ka stand liye and support kiya to start the business to thik hota But yes this man was such a BS I hope I phrased it right

Exactly, when I was looking for marriage, guys told me in a better way—they were looking for someone who would work after marriage or not. Better wording shows you aren’t in a position of authority but are just telling your preference.

ohh this is so common. I was talking to this guy one day in this arranged marriage setup and he told me that he will "let" me go to meet my parents and I was like bro, i understand that I should tell u that I want to go n meet them bt I am nt going to ask for your permissions.

I think there is some wiggle room here, or should be. Think as a man ... how should he communicate that he supports his wife working? Of course 'permission' is a completely wrong word, but whatever he says can be (mis)construed to be wrong. An equivalent sentence would be if a woman had to communicate ... I support you not working and me being the breadwinner. What she wants to say is I have no problem with it ... which is only needed to be said because society expects her to have a problem with it. If she laughs and uses the word 'premission' or 'no problem', should he claim she is being controlling? Bhavnaaon ko samjho, i guess :) In any case, these decisions are big decisions. Ideally, they should be discussed together. If she has not been working and wants to, I am sure there are logistics that need to be managed, so it will be wrong for her to bring it as an ultimatum, just like it will be wrong for him to say anything other than "ok, how can i help?, what do you need me to manage?, etc" . Life is not ideal, of course, and in the movie clip, the guy is clearly in the wrong. Love aside, Work responsibly together towards shared goals ... like team-mates. What feminism brings is: 1) freedom from stereotypical roles (like who makes the rotis, who drives the kids, who makes the money, etc) and 2) freedom from stereotypical goals (like instead of one, both sets of parents are our job, no one-way traffic of gifts etc). Feminism doesn't automatically make people articulate. So, leave some wiggle room for miscommunication. The unit of the two of you is far more capable than the sum of the capabilities of each one of you. The whole is greater than its parts.

Word here is “ALLOWED” , there are better ways to communicate and I have heard better ways but this shows the sense of authority. Hope that helps

I agree, the movie clip is particularly damning for the character.
