For those who missed his actual statement last night…here’s John Tory stepping down as Mayor of the city of Toronto.

Tory: I want to spare my family the further embarrassment of a public inquiry, so I am stepping down. Ford: The developers bribed me at a family function that I am hiding behind, so you are not allowed to ask me any questions.

This was to solely take the focus off of @fordnation and his corruption. It is sad they threw @JohnTory under the bus to distract the media and the people.

City of Toronto should allow a reasonable leave of absence to allow him and family to reflect appropriately. He’s done a lot of good for the city. We all make mistakes, his being no worse than many others before him. He can still offer a lot as being mayor.

This was all leaked as smoke and mirrors to get the heat off Doug and his illegal dealings in the Greenbelt scandal…I really hope people and authorities keep on the investigation into the Greenbelt dealings and are held accountable to the law.

The ethics violation that John Tory violated is the same ethics violation that Doug Ford has committed just a different set of circumstances. Does this mean Ford has to resign also by not disclosing he is good friends with developers who benefitted from the greenbelt?

If he would have smoked crack cocaine and someone would have filmed it and have his brother hired gangbangers to buy the video....he probably would still be mayor. But im just grasping at straws here.

Personally I found his statement honest, he showed his character and his vulnerability. I think he has made the right decision for him and the city. I wish him and his family patience and kindness. Than you Mr Tory for your years of service

No Affordable housing, homelessness, high rent/mortgages , Eglinton crosstown Rail still not built, unaffordable condos everywhere, loss of green space, infrastructure.. please vote, and please may we have a mayor who will actually address these issues in Toronto.

I’m not a fan of Tory, but honestly who cares? This exists in every workplace and outside of them. I don’t think his decisions about who he wants to have a relationship with actually affect his ability or integrity in the position. The resignation was excessive.
