This is what I wanted from ff16, I thought they were going to do it this way. They were going to find an airship and fly it like this but nooo

FF16 was never going to be the traditional RPG format, which was clear from its marketing. As much as I enjoyed 16, its world and quest design was not its strong suits, which was very unfortunate. Glad to see it here in E33 though.

Get ready for the most epic game of 2025 — and it's free. Step into the magical OP3N world!

Dynasty warriors origins also has it

Haven’t played it myself but I do remember seeing it there as well

Really looking forward to monolith soft on the switch 2 considering what they pulled off with XCX.

Ni no Kuni in 4k man

See, this is why art direction matters so much. It's why I found Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's world traversal to be so bland, like it was going for stereotypical photo realism. But this? This is lovely.

Imagine a modern Golden Sun done like this

What I can see here is it works well enough because of the art direction as well, which seems to be intentionally shaped to fit this choice

It has that diorama look to it almost like Fantasian, but still retains a lot more detail and even realism than most JRPGs you see.
