Foreign aid should be treated like defense spending: if it's good for US interests, it's worthwhile. Strong, robust allies are in America's interest. Someone should explain why it is in America's interest to cut off aid such that Russia overruns Ukraine and Iran dominates the Middle East.

...And "overspending" doesn't cut it, unless you're a total libertarian willing to cut Social Security (22% of the budget), health care (26%), and welfare/disability (11%). Foreign aid is less than 1% of the budget.
