China’s Foreign Ministry on Japanese lawmakers seeking to repair ties with Beijing: “We notice that some visionary people from both Japan’s ruling and opposition parties...” That is already a verdict. Beijing is saying Japan still has people intelligent enough to understand that destroying relations with China is against Japan’s own interests. Which raises the obvious question: What does that make the people actually running the Japanese government? If the “visionary” ones are trying to repair the relationship, then the ones wrecking it are not defending Japan. They are sacrificing Japan’s interests to ideology, remilitarization and political theater. China did not even need to insult them. It simply called the sane ones “visionary.” Everyone else can work out what that makes the government.
