The most uninviting place I found this year in Rome: The Spanish Steps, long a romantic place for people to hang out and make the scene. These days, the local cops are on the prowl, making sure no one “sits on the monument”... even though it’s a monument that was literally designed for sitting on. (How do you say “For crying out loud” in Italian?) It is amusing, however, to watch people baiting the “no-sit patrol” just for fun. OFFICIAL: Origins Robot Endgame Boss Fight Around 10-15 minutes into the match, you'll get a notification that either the Z-Rex or Colossus is spawning. For the Colossus, you have to first kill a certain amount of enemies around a portal before it will spawn. Once the Colossus has spawned, you have to shoot either one of its feet until it breaks. Let it step on you and you'll go into it just like in Origins. While in the core, there'll be a plate that glows and pulsates when you stand on it. After awhile, it'll shoot out a pulse that will turn on several red lights around the core. You have to shoot them all in a extremely small time frame. If done right, the cores shield will turn off and you can damage it. This needs to be repeated again for a total of two times. Afterwards, you'll get an exotic skill and have the opportunity to either leave the robot or exfil. If you exfil, you get sent to a special room and get a special exfil and game over cutscene.

This work makes a humanoid robot do simple parkour moves by looking with a depth camera and choosing the right move on the fly. The big deal is that it turns lots of small human moves into long, real-time robot behavior, without hand-coding every transition or retraining for each new course. A humanoid robot is usually good at steady walking, but it often fails when it has to do fast moves like jumping up, vaulting, or rolling, and then keep going to the next obstacle. The hard part is that you cannot easily collect training data for every possible obstacle shape, distance, and mistake, so robots end up learning a few moves that only work in a narrow setup. This work starts from short clips of real human parkour moves, like stepping over, vaulting, climbing, and rolling. It uses motion matching, which is basically a smart “pick the next clip that fits best right now” search, to stitch those short clips into a long, smooth plan that looks like a human doing a whole course. Then it trains a controller with reinforcement learning (RL), which means the robot learns by trial and error to copy that plan while staying balanced and not falling. After training separate expert controllers for different moves, it compresses them into 1 controller that uses only onboard depth sensing and a simple “go this fast in this direction” command. In real tests on a Unitree G1 humanoid, it can clear multiple obstacles in a row, adapt when obstacles get moved, and climb a wall up to 1.25m.

This was at La Jolla Cove in La Jolla California. These people are swimming at the Cove but there is a good amount of Sea lions there. 😳 You can see one of the Sea lions almost run over a kid as it is trying to get back in the water and you can hear a voice over the loudspeaker telling people to please keep their distance from all the Sea lions. People argued about this saying that little beach was always meant for kids to swim at and has been that way for 40 years. But many others said that it has obviously changed and now we have Sea lions there and they should leave those Sea lions in peace and go find another beach. To me, the ocean, that is their home. There are plenty of other beaches to use. The people should be the ones to move, not the Sea lions. 💯 What is your opinion? Should they just keep it the way it is, let people around the Sea lions or should they close this small beach cove to the public in order to allow the Sea lions to be in peace?
