@TomSwarbrick1 I know many company car drivers who went for plug in hybrids but never charged them just to reduce their tax bill. Fair? The tax bill will still be less than half of what you'd pay if you had an ICE car. Your service bills should almost vanish too so there are savings to be had.

@TomSwarbrick1 If it is the law to get a garage to record your mileage of your EV every year, then not getting it done is not an option. If you don't get it done then will catch you with a ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera, fine you, and add points to your licence automatically.

@TomSwarbrick1 All EV/ PHEV cars have connected apps on their phone . The app could be designed to produce a DVLA complaint statement of milage & a certified connection to submit it. Could also record Petrol & EV miles for PHEV to show your total tax paid through fuel duty & EV duty

The issue here is the government lying about their intentions for the tax in the first place. For decades now it has been justified on pollution levels and even ren-named "Vehicle Excise Duty" when in reality this policy admits its just a way of taxing people for engaging in the modern world
